A couple hours in the driveway can make a huge difference in how a used car looks.
First i got the car washed. Then I clay barred. Then hit all deeper scratches with cutting compound. The hit the whole body with polishing compound on a dual action polisher. Then some wax and a final wipe. Ooh yeah. So shiny!
Car is nice. The more I drive it, the more I like it.

I don’t understand anything you said. Is your local drive through car wash closed on weekends?

Heh, i started with a drive through car wash. That was the first step.
But the previous owner had a subscription to a drive through car wash chain, and that is sort of the root of the problem. All the dirt that was removed from the car in front of you, and the one before that is in the scrubbers that then cleans your car, and while it does remove dirt, it scratches your paint like crazy. Repeat 20 times, now your car's finish is dull and lacks that shine a new car has. Add to that 8 years of scratches. So, if you want to fix up your paint on an 8 year old car with 80k you gotta do some work. Is it worth it? To me, yes.
Yeah it's fast. I'm trying really hard to not throw a tune on it. A reputable tune for it will bump it up to the 500-530hp range. It isn't needed at all... But still... I want...
I'm hear to say the search function works just as well as it did in 2005 on the web version.
And I just picked up a contract where I'm going to pack on 30,000 miles in the next 12 months. Anyone in CO or near selling an Accord/Camry?
Basinbeater, I would skip the tune. I read so many car forums where a tune caused big problems.
If you're at 400+ hp just smile as you punch it. Speaking of problems, how are the AWD systems in a 4matic? I am looking at a 2021 A6 and my mechanic said while the Quattro system is good the rest of an Audi is a nightmare. A Merc 4matic maybe in my future.
Ha, yep. That car is gone. I never got stuck in the snow in it. It was very nice. Very very nice. But even 400 hp couldn't make it very engaging to drive. I now have a 2009 bmw 128i that is a hoot. No awd. No turbos. No automatic. Straight six smoothness and rear wheel drive row your own.
Great little car.
The first pic in that vid was my first car. A ’77 Caprice wagon. White with faux wood paneling, a V8, and red leather interior.
By today’s standards, it’d be pretty fucking dope with a corvette engine, air ride suspension, and some sort of blower or headers coming out the hood.

Give me a reason not to buy this S60 R

If they let you get it PPI'd and you have some tools that's not a bad car to work on when needed..
Believe me, you'll need to work on it.

It isn't a wagon. Everyone knows you only want the wagon.
Help me with some math. I own a Toyota Sequoia, get about 14mpg driving around town, occasionally better. I recently moved to the bumfuck suburbs and find myself driving a lot more (went from maybe 12-14k/year to maybe 20k/year). I can't get rid of the guzzler because I need it for towing and road trips and such. I would LOVE to get some cheap beater that gets great mileage to eat up those around town miles, let's say 15k of them per year.
But I can't see making the math work for that. Am I doing math wrong? Math am hard.
Does a first gen leaf have enough range for you? If not a bolt has more. They are cheap to buy and basically free to drive.
One of a variety of options in an e-bike/scooter/e-"motor"cycle?
I'd love one from these guys but the one I want is like $20k. I have the opposite of $20k.

Looks like even somewhat recent Leafs are getting near the beater price threshold (one I saw was $12K for a 2018 with 55K miles).
Gets a guy to thinking...
Well I just did a deal for an 11 year old car- 2014 model. It was a trade in at a dealership and carfax showed- 3 owners. First was rental for all of 6 months. Then it was sold (I assume at auction) and a private owner had the vehicle for 4.5 years. Average mileage for those 2 owners. Then a 3rd owner purchased it from another dealer in the same state. They sold it to the 3rd owner, and he supposedly was a sales rep that was on the road quite a bit. Higher mileage than average and when he traded it in, it was just over 159000. The dealer I purchased it from did quite a few work orders on the car. It had 1 minor issue when I got my state inspection- dirty or corroded rear tail light socket. Due to the miles, that dealer sold the vehicle as is without warranty. I figured since they provided all their service work and it was suspension items- tie rods, new rear brakes/rotors, new tires, and then some of the camera and sensors for rear view backup, lane assist, etc. that it would be pretty reliable vehicle. However just about 3 weeks into driving and owning it, the CEL came on and reported a U0101 network communications error. All pointing to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) or wiring (no gear indication on the dash panel or the shifter level as to which gear you were in.) It drove in limp mode. I did some basic electronics diagnostics - voltages and checked battery and fuses, etc. But did not take the ECM to transmission control pin outs and further troubleshooting due the absolutely lousy rainy month we were having. So off to the local transmission shop- and they diagnosed it as the TCM in fact was bad and needed replaced. Also while in the transmission, they recommended the valve body be replaced also. So while not as bad as a full transmission rebuild it was a bit higher of a bill than I had hoped for for such a short period of ownership...So 10 year or more cars can be a bit of a gamble, even if you do your research and have the vehicle checked over.
The maths clearly show that you need to make or win a jillion, so that it doesn't matter anymore.
The biggest turnoff is actually the leather. My ass is sweating just thinking about it.Quote:
