The TVR S I was going to buy from a colleague caught fire a week before we concluded the purchase.

Yep. Really nice leather, and a very comfortable shifter position.
Nice...reminds me a lot of the...what the heck was it called? Facel Vega?...of the same approximate vintage. Very similar cowl on the hood. Not that I've seen a lot ofFacels, but my dad used to have these yearly auto compendiums that literally had pictures and a write up of every single production car made ANYWHERE that year. I can't remember the title..."Universal Automotive" or something like that. They were great hardcover books of 'coffee table' size. Anybody remember those?
As a kid I would spend hours pouring over and dreaming about the cars found within its covers. Really an amazing publication...I'm sure it ceased publication eons ago. When I said compendium, I meant exactly that!!
The only reason I remember the Facel Vega was because of that book.
EDIT: Thanks, Buster and PNWBrit for pics of all those vintage eye-candy!! :). I realize the new cars are lightyears ahead in terms of technical innovation and suspension tuning...far Superior in most every regard....except one, and I speak for myself when I say this, but the new cars just don't flutter my heart as much as the vintage ones. Sure, they have ridiculously narrow and high profile tires, (cept those Dauer 962s!!! ;)),perhaps looser steering than the modern stuff, but those old vintage makes .....there's a feeling about them you can't easily define. I don't know...I guess I just wax nostalgic over them. But there are worse things. Anyway, thanks.
Its not pretty, but its got 727 hp and a factory warranty for $40k. The money you save over a Hellcat will buy lots of rear tires.

Just think of all the people those will run over.

Jeezuz, reminds me of the old 1984 Vette I had. Bunched it on the freeway on ramp and almost lost it when the back end broke loose. Scared the shit out of me.
Buster, was that black Fiat yours, and did you live in Hünfeld?
That is a pretty car.
Funny enough, as I know most people hated them, and by sports car standards they didn't perform very well, but I really like the lines on the later Mondials...

When I was kid I always had a certain eye for the 456 GT. A gorgeous, underrated 2+2 GT car. They can be had now for $65-80k. I bet these will sky rocket in value. V12 and a gated shifter. Done.

Don't see a lot of Spykers.
Sauber C9 was probably the prettiest '80's race car.
