Augment rebranded
Printable View
Well, that's tragic. I was much more stoked on the Marcel / RB concept.
Why the fark would I ski a rebranded failed brand?
How do startups not know that ski boots are finicky as fuck? You don't invest in a startup ski boot company, you buy an existing reputable brand.
Who knows. Maybe they learned from their first failures. That would be cool, too.
But even K2 is taking decades to pull my RS off my feet.

Why would you say that Augment is a failed brand? While distribution here in the US stalled, in the rest of the world the boutique manufacturer from Mittersal still produced some of the best skis on the market. There is the question, why are they even keeping the Augment name and just go full RB/VD. Compared to the other sports that Red Bull is involved in, skiing and ski racing is a rounding error on their ledgers .. I reall expect a lot of disturbance in the industry from them over the next few seasons.
Was the new Atomic “freeride” CS / “remedy” going to be available this season or not till next? Gave this thread a skim again for the answer but started to get dumber the more I read about BOA and politics.
What's the word from Lange? When are they going to offer a non-assucking walk mode mechanism?
Yeah, seriously. Want to know if they're going to drop XT4 on us any time soon. With the recent rollout of the shadow I don't suspect there will be a hell of a lot going on with their core alpine lineup any time soon
When’s k-two gonna roll out a tele boot?

When can I buy a hybrid double boa 130 fitted boot?
Gotta admit…. I’m cuff-BOA-curious. The logic makes sense to me.
Are we getting any hybrid walk mode boots with that this year?
The mechanism would make for quick walk/ski transitions, among the other magical benefits being touted.
Hopefully a better mindbender fit this time around?
I tried those and the recons. One had a bit of a bucket heel and the other felt almost a size too big. Can’t remember which/which. I did want to like the recon though. And I have had my hands on a Cortex (sized too small for me to make a fit assessment though) and those look pretty good.
Don’t know how they ski, but the Van Deers have the nicest factory base grinds I’ve seen. Thumbprint margin grind on the all mountain skis (I may be wrong on the thumbprint, but definitely a margin grind). Couldn’t find a real pic, but this:

Better pick showing what the edges look like with a margin grind (not a Van Deer):

[QUOTE=tompietrowski;7176742]I think this sums up boa cuff really well. At one point in development I even asked if we still needed a power strap. Ultimately we obviously kept it but I still don’t think it’s totally needed and I have found I often don’t do mine up any more.[/QUOTE
hi Tom, intuitively I would then think that a boot with BOA upper preferably needs an elastic powerstrap to make most benefit from this effect or am I wrong ? or is it a preference thing again ?
Yes, but nobody cares anymore. Would love to see another player in the game, but unfortunately I don’t think the $ is there to support it. (Which is what it comes down to ultimately)Quote:

Is the Atomic remedy what it looks like? So a "allmountain" version of a Redster Ti/CS?
similar to 110. 178, 184, 190/191.
I tried on the Remedy 130 at the show the other day, it's basically a direct replacement for the redster CS. Overall pretty stoked as I've been riding the redster CS the last 4 seasons, and the fit seems to be extremely similar with maybe the slightest bit of extra toebox room.
Also really impressed by the fit of the new K2 Cortex, might have to try those next year as well. Love that brands are bringing in heavier boots for hard charging that aren't full on race boots. I never understood what everyone saw in using hybrid boots for every day skiing, those things have zero dampening or a real stiff flex.
Is the Cuff diameter on the new Atomic remedy 130 still going to continue the Atomic tradition of being best in class for those with non-existent calves? Hopefully not getting bigger.
Also do we have a forward lean spec?
cough cough @onenerdykid
I was in my local shop ths morning when the new K2 double boa boots showed up. I tried on the LV model quick (last 96-98mm) and they snuggled my foot like i've never felt on first try. They were stiff as f*$k too, a true 130. A little harder to get into since you can't spread out the bottom part of the shell as wide as a buckle boot. Really nice to use the boa to wrap the boot around you. I'm down to go back in and give them a deeper look. Dalbello double boa also in there. MV. Nice boot, looks very similar to K2, I guess they're owned by same company and made in same factory?
So 25/26 is going to be a big year for us, lots of new boots being launched. We will launch a whole new Redster campaign in early February (skis & boots), and I will not be talking about anything “Redster” until then. But Remedy is now on the table, and I will answer some questions about it.
Coming out of our new Redster race program is a boot that our Freeride World Tour & freestyle skiers alike have been wanting for a long time. This is the Remedy 130 – born directly of Redster DNA, but purposefully built for our athletes. It was originally supposed to be a very limited edition boot, but rather than do that, it will be widely available next autumn. The color is officially called Butter, and it really looks like butter in person haha. All new mold construction, all new last with ample big toe shaping and toe space in general. It’s a “comfy” 96mm last if such a thing exists, and I know that anyone who currently has a CS will love it. It comes equipped with a ShockStopper boot board & liner spoiler and a generously treaded GripWalk sole (5355 soles will be available separately for anyone with race bindings). Lastly, it utilizes a more temperature stable PU that offers a much more consistent and predictable feel across a wide variety of temperatures. There is A LOT more to talk about, but anything more than that will spill too many of the secret beans from our Redster launch in February.
Butterrrrrrrrrrr
