On this note, anyone have a pair of 110’s they’d like to sell? I have 114’s that are my favorite ski ever but they’re getting a bit worn down. I might try to find another set of 114’s but I’m curious about the 110.
Or does anyone have Narrow Wrens in a 189 length they’d sell?

Anyone have mount advice for the Jeffrey 100?
I wanted Woodmans, but they don’t make them short enough this year. It was suggested to me to buy the Jeffs and mount them -1. The mount point for my size (161) is -3, so I have them at -4 now. Does anyone run them mounted further back, or am I screwing them up by mounting back from their mount point in the first place?
I can’t figure the ski out…where it wants my weight, or where it carves. Usually after a single run on new skis I understand them.
Anyone a Jeff whisperer?

So suboptimal depends on what you want them to do. Low tide slayers? nope. Narrower soft snow skis that skis hard snow and variable snow fine - sure. Charger -no.
i would go for the resort layup with shifts for a very good 50/50 setup, the extra grams are worth it for the extra prowess going down. The stock version is still fairly light, and you could just ask for the lightest pair thay have on hand - it will be lighter than the stated weight, yet ski better in variable and icy conditions than the tour.
don't try to drive them through the tips, but through the center for the ski (so pressure more from the center of the foot and down riding the sidecut, not balls of your feet bending them hard) and pivot/slarve them more around. Jeffs should be dead easy to ski as long as you ski them like the progressive, playful skis that they are.Quote:

Im curious on 50/50 lay ups. My bg 110tour w raiders are great touring ski but too light inbounds. My old steeples ripped inbounds with tech bindings on them but weren't near as light as the current 110 tours

Huh^ this is a little counter to my experience. Granted it was just one day, but I was shocked at how good my bgt118s did in resort chop. I had them on my feet as we were heading out the gates, but ending up ripping laps for hours as we kept finding good inbounds snow pockets. I kept calling them a cheat code. But then maybe I just don’t rip hard enough?
I've probably skied them inbounds 4 or 5 times. I adapt a bit and theyre better than some ultra lights in bounds ive had but comparing them to stock lay up bg's or even steeples is night and day. Im not a skinny ski guy and prefer more surfy than edgy feel and my mfree 99's are my skinniest ski and i'll gladly take those inbounds if its chop. If im not crossing turns no matter what the pow condition is, wind pressed, skiable crust, heavy , light, ill take the 110tours

My BG108 Tour layup are nice in soft snow. They do chatter and get deflected more than I’d like in resort chop and icey patches, but they’re certainly skiable.
I honestly think the tour layup could be fine for a ski you’d mainly plan to use on storm and pow days. If you’re a lighter guy they could be a bit more versatile too. Beyond that they suffer and aren’t my favorite inbounds.
So something like a BG 118 Tour I’d use with shifts or inserts for resort pow days and backcountry. Particularly in the Rockies. I have a pair of Veneer UL Praxis Kusalas I use exactly that way for split duty, because on a fat ski I like the weight savings and am rarely skiing hard chunder, chop, and icey stuff
Rode my Jeffrey 118’s in a little bit of fresh over a VERY hard base. The upper mountain had better snow, and in the stashes of fresh I found, they were everything I’d hoped and more. They have the suspension, cruise over everything in their way feel of the Caylor, but at a lighter weight and easier swing. All this goodness is tempered by how much work they are in heavier wet snow and icy groomers. Wrong skis for the day, should’ve been out on either my Jeffrey 108’s or my wife Line Blade’s. I did get to ride the lift with one of the ski builders (Andy?). Cool dude, we had a good chat.
Curious to hear why you don’t like 118s in heavy wet snow. Mine do fine. As a rule I bring my Wren 98s unless it’s boot-top powder.Quote:
