Where do you see that? All I read in CO law is that you're required to be in the right hand lane, and you are not expected to ride so far right that you don't have a reasonable margin of safety on the right hand side. The word "shoulder" never appears in the text.

Probably hinges on whether bicycles are classified as "motor vehicles". As I interpret it, bicycles are not motor powered.

As of 2016, this wasn't even the law for motor vehicles. https://durangoherald.com/articles/100396 . Maybe it passed?

EDIT: Didn't pass. https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb16-018 . So...I guess that isn't the law in Colorado even for motor vehicles.

Tuesday I went on a 2 hour, 36 mile road bike ride. Many times during the ride, cars acknowledged me, slowed up, waved me on or whatever, happens all the time in Issaquah, people are great. 30 miles in, I use a sidewalk/bike path thing I hate to get to the next section of the ride. I see a light ahead is green, and sense it's been green for a while, so I hammer it to catch the light.
As I enter the intersection, the light turns yellow, but I decide to keep hammering, as it's a long yellow. Anyway, it changes to red, (sooner than I thought), as I'm in front of a left-turning car.
This guy in the car lays on the horn, rolls down his window to inform me loudly, as he turns BTW, into the next back up of cars: "This is why we don't like bikers." (Always bikers, never cyclist.)
I actually yelled for him to fuck off. Normally I laugh, but adrenaline got the best of me.
So 20 seconds of a 2 hour ride, and all fucking cyclists suck, think we own the road, etc. If I was walking and did the same thing, no biggie, dude waits.

A few seconds is one thing. Riding down the middle of the only traffic lane at less than half the speed of traffic and blocking the lane for a considerable distance--for all we know he could have been doing that for 10 miles--when there is a perfectly good paved lane to his right, whatever you want to call it--is another. And no one in that video did anything dangerous or reckless. He's deliberately trying to piss off cars. I assume that, like me, you ride a bike. Do you really want to share the road with cars driven by people who are pissed off by passive aggressive cyclists. That guy is going to get cited one day, if he hasn't been already, and there's a good chance he's going to get hurt.

If the guy ever winds up in court after being cited or after an incident the opposing attorney just has to show the judge or jury a selection of his videos and he's screwed.

Frankly, the guy is seriously mentally ill. Hope he doesn't own a gun.

Current trend of this thread: no one knows their current local bicycling laws. Instead, we all just cite what we *think* laws are when they help our points.

Laying on the horn like that guy did was dangerous, reckless and unnecessary. Seeing as how the guy had enough free time to stop and confront Walter he clearly wasn't all that inconvenienced.

The motorist who stopped crossed a double yellow to pass the cyclist. That's against the law. I don't know how long the backup was behind the cyclist. If it was several cars long due to miles of the cyclist taking the lane, then yes the cyclist should allow the cars to pass a the first safe opportunity.

I agree that this guy is a bit unhinged. The first sentence of my previous post alluded to that. I've been a bike commuter for over twenty years. People drive unsafe for a lot of reasons. Angry at cyclists. Angry at their wife. Texting their mistress. Hitting the vape. Whatever.

Depending on where you live, crossing a double yellow to pass a cyclist may or may not be legal. In CO it is legal to cross a double yellow to pass a cyclist if it can be done safely.

CA as well. You're required to give cyclists 3 foot clearance and can cross the double yellow to do it if you can safely. If you can't you can give less than 3 feet but you have to slow down.

My advice to anyone who encounters the Minneapolis douche or anyone like him--don't give him the satisfaction of blowing your horn, yelling at him, cutting him off, not using a turn signal. Getting people riled is what turns him on--he's hoping for a response.

Riding my bike today I almost got taken out twice by other cyclists. First one, riding in a bike path I slowed before crossing a separated right turn lane. Just as I reached the road another cyclist passed me on the left and then made a hard right, forcing me to swerve right instead of continuing straight. Second one, crossing a very busy street at a light I hit the pedestrian button at the crosswalk, because the light sensors in the road don't recognize bikes. Light changes in my favor, walk sign comes on, I start across and nearly get taken out by two cyclists who blew through the red light coming from my left. Too many people on bikes shove their entitled suppository up their ass before they get on a bike--"I'm a cyclist, I can do anything I want and god will love me more than it loves you."

During the videos of superdouche he is constantly reading off plate numbers of offending vehicles. Does he ever take them to the local Po and try to have the drivers ticketed or is that just in case he gets in an altercation and gets assaulted /killed he would have their info on tape?

In most cases I would say its to get them on tape before he forgets and to have to avoid stopping to write it down.

In the case of this dude, I would say it's a psychotic tick similar to someone with OCD.
