5’9, 190lb (athletic). I like to charge on open faces and through chop. In trees i like to billy goat around a lot more. Not 100% tip driver (little more upright), but definitely like to be forward.
I have not experienced tip dive on these flex 3s, mounted -1.5, compared to my old 192 flex 4s mounted on the line.
It may be more so a result of mount change than flex - I absolutely hated the 188s I had (at any mount point) which were pretty soft. Not sure why, other than the day I took them out it was in very heavy sticky snow (2ft) low angle skiing at Northstar. I have never fallen more in a day than I did then, if I was even moderately forward I’d somersault (even at -2 to -3cm begins the line). Sold them after 1 day. Still a mystery to me, nothing like my 192s. Lots of people love the 188 though.
To be honest, I do not like the protests in heavy/wet pow (particularly low angle slopes). The tips like to submarine if you get too forward or aren’t booking it, and I hate that feeling. I much prefer pintail/fat tip pow skis like Lhasa Fats or Cease and Desists in those situations
In light density pow, protests are sweeet. Can get more into the snow without getting the over the handlebars feeling. They are also superb in anything steep or tight trees, and cut through chop very well if you angle them on edge a bit.
