Spent too much on but still waaay less than msrp on a used Geometron G1 frame. Thing is burly as hell, and is making me bi(Crown)-curious. I'm going to run a 170mm Mezzer pro on it for now, but in the future I might try to get a dual-crown fork for it, possibly a Dorado expert with IRT upgrade

Just mounted some Pirelli Cinturato M’s 700x45, on my gravel bike. They are closer to 47 on these hookless rims, they look badass! The S-Works Pathfinder’s are fast and pretty grippy, but we are having a wet summer and I’m doing some events with a lot of class 4-6 roads coming up. These were the easiest tubeless setup I’ve ever done. Floor pump, no problem.

I'll believe it when it shows up though. Price seems way too low--large seller was running a 30% off "tour de france" promotion and I'm half expecting them to cancel and say that was a mistake and the 30% wasn't supposed to apply to complete bikes. Pinkbike prices are all way higher and even the one byates1 has for sale here costs more for a T1 build. Heck, there are pinkbike sellers asking for more for just the frameset.
Sweet score if it is true! I've been nosing around looking at SB100 frames and there definitely seems to be some deals out there for the taking. Guess the venn diagram of people who want Yetis and people who want every so slightly dated downcountry bikes doesn't have much overlap.

Demoed a canyon lux trail a few weeks ago which has a similar head tube angle and it did ok on the kind of terrain I plan to ride the sb115 on, but felt a little too racey with the flex stay rear and stepcast remote lockout fork that I felt like I was overpowering on every turn (and I’m not a fork snob…The rockshox recon silver on my hardtail works fine).
Pulled the trigger on some Magura MT7’s. They have 20% off all items for awhile and although I was Hayes curious the deal was too good to pass up. Dreading the install.

I’ve had terrible luck with bleeding magura’s. Although I think the last set I tried had a bad lever from a crash so perhaps was introducing air into the system. So here is hoping!Quote:

Only bit that is kind of a bummer is the wheelset. Not sure why you would spec an "enduro" wheelset listed at 2126g on a bike like this--would have much preferred the DT XM1700s.

Went up the hill like a dream. Felt undergunned down a black freeride trail from the summit, but that's to be expected and not what I bought this bike to ride. Really noticed the difference when I had a slow-speed OTB fall where I stuffed the front wheel into something that my longer-slacker-fatter tired Ripmo would have just rolled right through!
Need to work on my setup though. By the time I made it back to town, my hands were beat to hell. I thought I got the sag set right, but despite riding it pretty hard, I only used 100mm of fork travel. May have also had a too much tire pressure and the 35mm bars might be stiffer than I am used to as well.
Rear end with the switch infinity felt really smooth though--don't think I need to change anything there.
Maybe a slightly grippier tire would be nice too...rekons? rekon front?

Yup, score on that SB115. Geo looks about the same as my Ranger, which is a pretty damn fun bike. I’m still running the dissector on the front and need to replace the rear rekon. Don’t think I’d want a rekon on the front

I don't think the one-up bars will be a problem. Wheels and tires might have been a disappointment but hard to complain.
Solid deal for sure. I thought the wheels were an odd choice as well as I was reading the list. Other upgrades are nice, especially grip over the fit.

The OneUp bar ranked 2nd in vertical compliance and was the tester’s choice in Pinkbike’s recent comparison. They’re specifically engineered for that. Nice bars and probably not the source of your hand issues. Gonna get a pair for the lady, who has some hand problems.
I’m on the WAO/77 Designz, rated the most compliant in the test. Some testers even said it might be too flexy for bigger people taking bigger hits on bigger bikes.
I’m a smaller person and don’t notice excessive flex but can confirm they’re easy on the hands.
Nice price on a nice bike all things considered. Build some blingy light wheels for it and keep those E13s as spares. :fm:
Yeah, it is probably just the fork and maybe the tire pressure (not used to 2.35s--I started high and let some air out but probably not enough). These factory grip2 forks have too many settings for me to understand!
Considering I wasn't even close to bottoming it out, I think there's just too much pressure. Might have to open it up and check how many volume spacers are in there too.

The Grip2 is awesome. Once you get it dialed in a bit I'm sure you'll love it. I ran the same pressure on 2.35s with a wider modern rim that I run on wider tires. I'm light though.Quote:

Rode them tonight and they seemed fine, actually better than the pirelli xc/rcs i took off that had like 600mi. Tread appears to still mostly be there but I've noticed a pretty serious lack of grip lately. Summer dry conditions and worn xc tires are not a good mix. Just wish the 2.35s were available because these 2.25s are a bit narrow.
Took a ride on a local steep, rough downhill (1200 feet in a little less than 1.4 miles) that was kind of the inspiration for the new brakes. My guides would fade and pull to the bar and take quite a bit of effort and arm pump. The trail was probably a little rougher today than it had been with more moisture in June.Quote:
