Jeez. I know that these people are constitutional purists, but they take it too far when they follow food hygiene practices that are 300 years out of date. I'm surprised these people and their followers like Cuntfish haven't suggested leeches as a Covid treatment.

no reason except covid hits old people > young people

On the one hand old people more likely to wind up in the hospital. OTOH young, working from work people more likely to spread the virus. What is clear, especially as mutations are emerging, is that getting as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible is critical. The limiting factor should be the ability of Moderna and Pfizer to make vaccine. Every dose should be out the door and into somebody within say 48 hours, and we should be mobilizing whatever resources we have to to make that happen.

BTW I'm getting real sick of the expression "into people's arms".

I agree with you there. What we desperately need right now is to get as many people vaxxed as quickly as possible. If we slow down the line to make sure it is ordered more perfectly, we screw ourselves over.

Oregon bumped teachers ahead of 65+ despite federal guidelines. It’s going to be a very bad look for teachers unions if they all get the shot and schools don’t reopen for another 6-9 months.

I’m fine with them saying that they think it is to risky and they won’t go back, but they need to collectively step back in line if that is the case.

So how was she able to get the vaccine so soon? I know here in Washington the cutoff is 65 except for healthcare workers and first responders.

Helped an elderly neighbor sign up for the jab this morning. Couldn't have been easier. Appts opened up at 8am online. I got on and bing bam boom! it was done. One of the pros of living in a small town.

Friend just messaged me that she's heard westsiders are heading east to get jabbed for that very reason. I suppose it's all good. We need to get people vaxxed. Yes there are those who need it more than others but those same people NEED others to get vaxxed too so they don't have to be so isolated. There should be a priority but in the end we just need to get it done IMO.

100% agree with you on that front. The district we're in gave all the teachers the opportunity to be part of the 100% distance learning option (i.e., a traditional homeschooling program that is being managed by the district) or the hybrid option where they'd have to be back in person with kids. while I sympathize with their situation, there was an option to keep their job and work at home this entire year, so if they're being prioritized for the vaccine then they should go back.

I had to have this discussion with my girlfriend, she got vaccinated and offered to put me on the list if they have extra doses at the end of the day. I'm working at home and skiing and that's it right now, so it seems like a waste to vaccinate me. It's tempting so I can help some older family members with health issues more easily but vaccinating me does very little good for the community right now.

At this point my thinking is get the jab if it's offered to you provided that offer is honest as in the case of use or lose it situations as they can't refreeze the vax once a bottle is open.
