I went back and forth with PowTron on the mount point because of how aggressive it is and he told me dead center... He was spot on and no way would I change it... With that said I hope Iggy and PowTron weigh in as I know they could provide a more detailed/technical response than I can give...

Mattig, I own and love my 193 Gunsmoke, but the only area that it beats the Kartel is on soft groomers and not by much... Everywhere else the Kartel is a better ski and just has that solid ON3P feel...

So you beat me to it. But I will reiterate I suppose.

I previously have owned OG Caylors(120), 2nd Gen Jeffery(110), and Geronimo's.

I always felt like I had to stay on it to keep from going over the bars in certain situations. With the Kartel 116 I don't experience that sensation. They still look for a more neutral stance, but the tips don't get caught up as much. While the tip taper makes it mash through the chunder better. I feel like the tail taper makes the ass end float a little less. Which in turn makes the front end plane better. I always go with the recommended mount.

Obviously they don't have the mach looney top end like you would have on the BG. But I think they are just a hoot in the tree's. They never feel planky, and come alive quickly at low speeds. So versatile that the getting the K108 to compliment felt like a no-brainer.

As far as the K108. I think it is a more powerful, yet still fun ski, than the Jeffery ever was. Just a blast to ride all day.

Really like what I'm hearing about the K116. My eye is on the new BG but everyone hyping up the Kartel makes me want to consider it too.

My friends and I demo'd a bunch of ON3P skis earlier this winter. I ended up with a pair of BG and one friend who skied both the BG and Kartel bought a pair of Kartels. She thought it was just more fun 'for her' all over the mountain. Admittedly the RES took me a little while to get used to, so that could have had some impact on her decision.

I have my eye on the 108 Wren right now.

I really love my Wren 112's but they can bit a bit much in tight spaces and firmer conditions (and bumps), so I find myself debating on certain days whether to take them out or my Bonafides. I'd rather just have a go-to daily driver for the resorts where I'm not torn on which ski to use, so I'm hoping the Wren 108's slightly narrower dimensions, refined tip and and some tail rocker for an easier release will make them just a bit more versatile for a wider range of conditions.

So if anyone is interested in some 13/14 186cm Wren 112's (with the eagle top sheet) I'll be selling them soon. They're in pretty good shape and again, they're still awesome skis that charge harder than anything else I've been on.

What mount point do the current Wrens have? IE -8 from true center.

The flex was pretty dialed in on previous versions so I went stock. Black top sheets, green side walls.

Thanks to Banditmans PSA I got my 193s (same year as yours) for $200 shipped from STP... Except for the soft as shit bases you will def dig them...

Since I liked the Guns so much I knew I would totally dig the Kartels...

I will be at Bach from 3/29th to 4/8th skiing so if you come up I will have my Kartels and you can def take them out if we can make the BSL work...

Sweet. I'll be there whenever the crew decides on BBI Bachy edition. Might miss you by a week, looks like, but maybe it'll get bumped to the weekend of 7th-9th.

If there is 3+ inches of snow the Kartels come out...

Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply to your PM yet but I think you will be happy. With the Wren 108 tail you gain a decent bit in maneuverability with little to no loss in stability. What you lose is a little bit of ability to load the tail of the ski and get a lot of energy/rebound. For what you're talking about wanting, I think the Wren 108 will be a better ski.

As soon as I can get out on them, I'll post my review (80 was closed this weekend, so I didn't get out). For these I went with the stock core, stock fiberglass with the stiff carbon fiber layup and green sidewalls to match my Billy's. Going to likely use these as my daily drivers on average snow years, with the Billy Goats seeing action in fresh snow; like this year. It looks like we'll be moving back to Mt. Hood this summer, so I imagine I'll be on them more often next year.

And you have to be crazy to forgo the best topsheets in the biz for black?

The custom color top sheets are pretty sweet - it's not like they're just a solid color. My orange skinny goats get compliments literally every time I bring them out.
