In a lot of ways I think it's completely rad. Maybe the pics are deceiving, but the interior seems incredibly bright and airy considering it's basically underground. Energy bills are probably super low.

But, yeah, 1 bath for anything with more than 1 bed is straight facepalm. And while the aesthetic of the roof is amazing it's probably a maintenance nightmare.

Why is that odd? It's super common for mountain town listings to have dead animals hanging on the wall.

It's odd because many viewers may be offended by it. I would think most stagers would avoid something contentious like that, especially for a $10 MM listing where you're already starting from a very small list of potential buyers.

I've noticed that they have also used non-sustainable hardwoods, have appropriated Native American culture with the rug designs and most likely use chemical weed spray on that lawn, that is non-native grasses.

But seriously, there is a dead head in most rooms of that house, what made you focus on the bear as being the most offensive?

I only looked at a couple pictures, but you're right the place is filthy with dead animals.

If you're not offended then it might be difficult for you to understand that some people would be.

Do people really get offended by furnishings that are that easily changed, notably in that price range? Doubtful. It's not like it is a structural element of the house or a starter home that people have to compromise on.

I’ve seen wayyy worse than that place. Like 4-5 mounts per room.

I can tell you my wife would see that shit and leave immediately, so I would say the answer to your question is "yes."

People are influenced by the furnishings and other accoutrements in a house and often can't look past them. That's why house staging is a thing--and a thing people are willing to spend quite a bit of money on.

In fact I think an expensive house like this could be even more susceptible to people being turned off by something like this. If you can afford a $10MM house you can afford to say "fuck you." If you're looking for a starter home you take what you can get.

I'm thinking some of those rugs were made by actual Native Americans. Does buying and putting them on the floor mean cultural appropriation? Where does the line get drawn?

As for the non-native grass, there's a 3-hole course on the property. Use of chemical weed spray seems pretty par for the course.

Again, in a house that looks like that and is located where it is, on 120 acres and nowhere near any population center, I cannot imagine that the animals mounted on a wall would matter. And for every buyer that is like The AD's wife, there may be one (or more) that likes the decor and is influenced positively. Yes, staging is a thing, but for a house like that, that IS the staging.

You (and your wife) are the outliers here. People with that bankroll don't give a shit about staging, they are going to make it their own regardless.

While i don't doubt people who have fuckyou money don't worry as much about just deciding to remake something as others, there is very much a divide between people who can picture change vs those who can't see past what is in front of them.

I do not believe that is correct, staging matters at any price point, regardless of the size of the buyer's bankroll. Staging helps buyers see the property in its best light, to get a sense of what the property could be once they spend all the money to make it their own. Staging still matters. I just don't think it matters here in the way The AD thinks.
