Hey JoshP, thanks for the info. We'll definitely be up there Friday....I'll probably bring the husband along so it's not just a girls ride if anyone else is up for it.Quote:

Have fun. I plan on riding it at least one day next week.
let me know when you do, I want to get up there for some riding.Quote:

Just kidding ladies, prolly a lot of phone arrangements going on hopefully and riding - but anyway, I'm BACK and I'm READY to roll! What's on the table?
Welcome Back!!
We've been riding a bit....but have had some bike issues....My fork is back at Fox, so I've been riding on one of J's burly forks. Lis has been without a bike most of the week too...but hopefully, she gets it back today.
I'm thinking of a ride this afternoon sometime...not sure where yet. Maybe crest, but still trying to work that out.
Definitely up for riding Wed/Fri - most likely a crest one of those 2 nights.
I wouldn't mind hitting the Crest again this week. We rode it Friday (didn't start until late) and it was pretty sweet. And riding the AS-X up the hills wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... I survived doing the whole mid-mountain trail on it yesterday too.
I was in a sling all weekend with a stupid effing shoulder injury of sorts. Feeling much better today, but I think the Crest for me will happen after I get back from Hood on the 5th. I need more time to heal.
I'll post here what days i'll be riding up there so we can get a group together!
Skiguide and I rode Crest - Mill D this afternoon. Such a fun trail, but I wait for the day that puke hill DOESN'T kick my ass. Ugh......one day. At least I recover quicker than I used to.
Anyway....My tentative plan is to ride Solitude on Wed evening with the hubby (but anyone is invited), and Crest on Friday.
Connie - glad to hear that the AS-X is riding well
Liz - sorry to hear about the shoulder!! Heal up quick!
the lynx is back from her busted-hand-and-trip-to-montana-and-wasatch-back-relay Hiatus.
I'm still slightly in recovery mode from the race this weekend, but i'm stoked to get back on my bike! especially if it's for the crest trail :D
I'd be down for some Crest on Friday, in the late-ish afternoon that is. Any idea on time? Still have never done it, so you ladies be my guides. :D
I'm out on Wednesday for Solitude, may be looking for some Deer Valley action on my "lunch" from the bike shop Saturday....and/or later in the day Sunday. If I get my damn brake fixed that is.
I can't ride until after work on Friday. I can usually meet around 5-5:30 depending on how we want to ride it. Friday's an even day, so we could drop into Millcreek if we wanted to. The descent into Mill D is super fun too...I'm up for either.Quote:

Wednesday i'm up for something... maybe the solitude thing, but Utsnowgirl says there's a fair amount of climbing.. back is kinda jacked right now - probably not a good idea.
i may try to ride Tues & thurs though. maybe just SLC fitness rides - either Pipeline or Quarry.
Damn, that scheduling sucks for my schedule. Good luck with the repairs though, she'll be like new, eh?Quote:

I'm doing the Crest tonight (meeting at 6).
And then something in PC tomorrow night - I'm getting a bike fitting done at the PC TOSH at like 5:30, so I figure I'll go and ride something after that, if anyone is going to be in the area around 6:30-7-ish.
Thursday I have PT in the early afternoon, but could swing an evening ride somewhere. And Friday I'm out - I have a hot stone massage at 4:30, which is supposed to help w/scar tissue in my knees.
YAH... sure it is, right... ;)Quote:

awesome...
well, my back feels like complete ass at the moment, so i don't know if i could do Crest again tonite or not-TBD later. the good news is that I finally made an appt with a chiro office that TOSH recommended, that's not until July 11th though..... maybe i'll walk across the street and get a massage, though this is more joint pain..
which doesn't matter, cause it sounds like i'll be taking at least the week of the 4th off from biking anyway. grr....

Hope your back is feeling better! What chiro are you going to?Quote:

If you don't mind my asking, how much does TOSH charge for a bike fitting? Is a TOSH fitting appropriate for someone that isn't a rehab patient?Quote:

AG -i'm down for some PC action tomorrow (Wednesday) and possibly something on Thursday, too (i need to ride my ass off so i can still fit into this dress i bought for my buddy's wedding in July, heheh)
UtSnowgirl, Yentna -Crest Friday!!! after work...let's do it to Mill D, i love that descent and it's probly easier to figure out the shuttle. is good? what time?? 5:30? 6? Meet at Mill D?
I might be able to make the Crest ride on friday if we can meet by 5:30pm. I am leaving for Hood the next morning at 5:30am so if I can get most my stuff together before the ride I may show up!
I can be at Mill D by 5:30 on Friday assuming all goes well at work.
Do it Liz! Do it! Hopefully, we'll see ya there.
$80. Supposedly you could get a referral and have it covered by insurance, but we figured that esp. after copays, it's easier to just pay the $80 than risk having my ins. co. decide something is weird about me going to two different PT offices at the same time...Quote:

I can't make it by 5:30 - since I get off work at 5:00pm in Coalville. Prolly a good hour to get there....if you gotta go earlier, no worries, just let me know. Also, it's a trail for the XC bike, right? (Hope so, the Dh rig is out of commission at the moment, sigh.)
Also, SLC jong here, where is Mill D? How do I get there? Help!!!???
You can do it on either - I think the AS-X is ideal. And I did it on the old green monster once. But despite being a shuttle there are 2 major climbs - there's plenty of pedaling, but a few fun little rock gardens, water bars, etc. that make a bigger bike more fun than an XC bike. But it's fun no matter what you're on, really.Quote:

Edit: For you - head over Guardsman, down into BCC, and maybe a couple miles below Solitude you'll see the Mill D trailhead on the right. Or depending on who you're shuttling with, you could meet at the top, but that one is a little harder to describe. No trail sign, just a dirt road on your right (as you're descending the canyon) on a sharp switchback. That time of day there will be a collection of cars parked there. It's a couple miles above the fork where you get back on BCC road from Guardsman Pass.
I'm out for friday, I just have too much to do that night before we leave. I'm so bummed!
So, let's ride next week when I get back.
Werd.
Edit: and my shoulder really isn't ready, so I was trying to ignore that to ride so it's better this way!
AC: Heal up!!
Yentna: what time do you think you could make it by? 6 maybe?
Lovers of Oakley bike shorts: we got some new ones in stock. i can't tell you where and when they will show up online for sale, but i can tell you to be on the look out (dudettes AND dudes actually). And um.....you didn't hear that from me!! dang, i should create some kind of alias for that...

Really, the bike fitting is just the normal stuff (that you could do at home if you had endless patience or cool bike fitting gadgets like he has there) We got my cleats lined up right, did the plumb bob thing to get my knee over the spindle at 3 o'clock, leveling the saddle, getting the perfect seat height to get the correct angle at my knee, etc. I think the cleats made the biggest difference. I went out and rode Lost Prospector/Gamble Oak afterwards and the whole thing felt a little weird until I got used to it, but I was feeling really solid, particularly pedaling uphill by the end.
And probably just as good, we spent a good 20-30 minutes going over bike specific balance/core exercises. My regular PT does a good job with sport specific stuff, but it's always good to get some new ideas.
Anyway, really nice guy and lifetime rider, who seems like a really good PT on top of knowing how to fit a bike. Which is a nice combo.
They also offer a pedal stroke analysis - which seems like it would be pretty useful if you're a roadie or XC racer, etc.
Thank you AG, I appreciate the report.
I'm happy to hear your back in the saddle - literally and figuratively.
Crest roll call for tomorrow/friday?????
I stopped by Revolution this morning and my shiftering should be all money now. woO
also, might have some dudes from work tag along, but thats still a total maybe
I'm in. If dudes are coming, J might be in too....not sure.Quote:

so stoked for crest! even puke hill. and that part will be especially awesome since i havent ridden my bike for like two weeks now. sweet
Ladies, I can't believe I'm saying this but: I'm out for tomorrow.
#1, we tried one last time to rebuild/repair my front brake (DH bike), with utter failure (read: parts shooting into the air), so I'm cannibalizing my XC bike to steal its front brake.
#2, tomorrow's the only chance I'll have (slim chance of a weekend attempt, but not quaranteed) to practice the DV finish line drop until next week, so....bailing on Crest.
I WILL come ride with you there soon though, I promise!!!
No worries....next time. I'm sure there will be plenty more. :)Quote:

I think I might get on a big bike the following weekend at DV. We'll be up there all weekend for a wedding, staying at the Chateau at Silver Lake, so I might have to play on a squishy bike. :)
ok, the work dudes are a no go. so it looks like it's just the two of us!
Yentna: maybe we can hit crest again on wednesday? or Saturday? or Sunday? or Monday? or Tuesday? i'm out of town thursday to monday, but would love to ride as much as possible before i leave
This dude is still planning to join in. Can't think of another ride I'd rather do, and I don't get to ride with my wife as much lately. Skiingbear, you in?
Yeah, I suppose I should get on my bike once this week. PFH, I guess you and I can ride our pace if the Maggettes want to keep it exclusive. (By our pace, I mean as slow as my fat arse climbs).Quote:

yea, those two aren't so bad at riding our 'pace'
by a strange turn in a series of events, I'm actually IN for tonite again... .
RE - can you PM me your cell# so i have it?
I wanna ride! It looks like DV for me tomorrow, then I'd be down for some XC Monday and Tuesday... holla.
like whoa! i keep forgetting tuesday is a holiday and i don't have to work!
maybe we should do something super radical that day
