Thanks for delivering responsive skis with mass. If they start to feel heavy, I know I'm not skiing fast enough.

First day on the R120 yesterday on Blackcomb.
Morning was a few laps on gear jammer skiing the previous days 40cm of semi skied out bumps with the days 15cm on top. Bashed through the soft bumps real well, awesome suspension especially for a reverse ski. Pivoted well and tail was supple and forgiving, but there when needed. I felt like I could feel the swallow tail flexing.
After a couple hours in the wizard zone setting up the ski out I managed to ditch 'work' and get into spankys for a lap. It wasn't open the previous day so 50+cm in there. Not blower, but pretty damn dry for the coast. Tips planed up and any turn shape was on tap.
At the end of the day skiing out chopped groomers they were equally impressive, and pretty fun. As mentioned the suspension is top class, as is the tune. They gripped really well on scraped off sections and will for sure be an awesome 'all day' type pow ski that doesn't need to be changed out at lunch.
The fr110 thread has mentions of 'video game skiing'. I think that translates up to it's bigger brother too.

Got the pre-shipping notification from USPS. I'm beyond excited to get on the FR120.
Ironhorse shared some thoughts sign me on his R120. In short, very positive. I’ll let him expand.
I'm no ski reviewer, but I'll say a few words about the R120 ST...
It was not the day for a ski 120 mm underfoot. Hell, it honestly wasn't a day for 100 mm! But since I'm unsure how much skiing my knee will allow this season (see: "Total Knee Replacement" thread), I knew I wanted to at least feel these puppies out.
Holy Mary.
Intuitive is an understatement. From the first turn they felt natural, as if I had been skiing this shape for years. Immediately revved them up and charged down some soft groomers. With just a roll of the ankle, I was carving huge GS arcs. A ski this wide has no business making such turns. I drove the tips and they happily responded to as much shin pressure as I could muster, feeling lively and quick, but always planted and smoothing everything out. I think I was most impressed how they allowed me to cleanly finish each turn. I kept thinking about how little brother R110 must absolutely rail, and how my wife is going to love her pair (and how I might need a pair of my own!).
Searched out the softest stuff I could find, and again, just press the "EASY" button. Such a solid platform. Can't wait to get them in deeper snow, and in fact, I have at least two other skis that I can't imagine ever reaching for again.
I think I nailed the mount point, as well, although I believe the sweet spot is huge. I'm at -8.25 (81.5) and I was able to drive the shovel as hard as I wanted, but also ski them from the middle of my foot. Felt ridiculously nimble for a beast of a ski (my pair happily came in overweight), and I think my thoughts on mp will carry over into the deep snow, as well.
I don't think I stopped smiling all morning.
-8.75. The farthest back that MO recommended. I'm a pretty traditional skier and like my soft snow skis to have a floaty tip. Probably because I really learnt to ski pow on the lotus 120. I like my volkls, my katana is at +2 and BMT 109 on the line so about -10 to -12 but have been skiing, and liking, more hard snow orientated skis a bit more forward. Mantra 102 and Kendos at +2 so about -9cm.
So far the r120 is going well at that mount, I was a bit worried about tip float but I'm forcing myself to move with the times. So far so good.
Was out heli bombing this morning and got dropped off on phalanx to 'dig a pit' aka ski s-turn. Needless to say the r120's got their first heli ride and skied perfectly even though the snow ranged from completely scoured, through wind board and Avi debris to 20cm of cake down near the bottom.

Feel free to shoot me an email/dm any time. Hard to keep track of everyone's real names on shipping labels vs online handles!
Two quick comments for anyone reading... (1) at this time of year the tracking info rarely gets updated by the carriers before the package actaully arrives and (2) I have about 25 pair of skis pre-staged in the queue remaining to finish prep and get shipped. They will all be shipped by Monday (unless specifically requested to hold til after the holidays).
Hit me up any time to check on your individual set.
Quick review 187cm BC.
Mounted these with Rotation 14, at recommented.

Skier: 42years, 96kg in boxers, skied past 20 years around 100 days per season. Now days mostly touring, no lifts close. Kinda old school style. I like ski active and not just slarve around.
I have now about 10 touring days on them. Couple of days powder tree skiing, couple of days on wind crust, 10cm dust on ice and one super duper hyper awesome 1200 vertical hero settled pow run.
Powder/soft snow: Awesome as expected. Does what you want and nothing else. Pivots faster than thought in trees. Stomps nicely medium sized airs that I dare to take.
Wind affected snow: makes sink through wind affected snow easily skiable. I think on thinner waist & normal camber these days would have been more survival skiing. Still early season, so speeds have been moderate at best on variable snow. I think they will work even better as soon we get more snow & light and get rid of the sharks which equals more speed.
Ice & hard snow: well it's full rocker ski and 120mm middle. It's does get you down, but there are more suitable skis for these conditions. But it does perform well enough to be taken out everytime there's possibility for soft snow. Or you know that top part of mountain is awesome and low part not that good.
And it does look awesome [emoji16]

Mounted up my BC 120s (beta profile) today. I've had these for a long time now, but only just got around to mounting them due to life, my injury recovery and binding indecision. Mounted at -7.5 from TC (~85.75 from tail) with FR15s. Staring down our driest December in over 25 years in the San Juans, so hopefully this makes the santa slammer a reality and brings winter back.

Nice! Beta seems a bit more rockered yeah? Was asking about mount because yours looks pretty far back compared to mine (86cm from tail) but maybe the photo is playing tricks on me.
The beta is a bit more rockered up front and less in the rear, (current version has the new R profile), while this one matched the FR rocker up front and the old R profile in the back I believe (MO can correct me if I am wrong).
And yeah I think the lighting and my phone camera made it look like there is a ton of ski up front.
Those are beautiful. Well worth the wait. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on them, if winter ever returns to the San Juans…
In case anyone is looking for another solution for skins on the Swallowtail, the Jones quick tension tail clip is perfect for these. I imagine the Weston version would be good too.

Going to drop off my R120STs in 187 at the shop for mounting. Should I simply tell the shop “mount 7.5cm back from center mount”? Given their unfamiliarity with the ski, I want to be sure they mount it correctly. Open to any pedantic suggestions to ensure I communicate the mounting instructions clearly.
Word! I am with Peaches.
Suggest to sharpie a line 85.25cm (or 33 5/8" if you only have a caveman tape measure) from the tail.
In order to ensure I don't botch my own mounts, I mark a 1cm line w/ the tape, and then draw a line from sidewall to sidewall ontop of the mount with a square -- and then go back and make sure the line is really where i want it. Makes sure I don't screw it up myself!
Also, if you use a sharpie, and don't want the line forever or miss-draw the first time, it will clean right off after the mount with a little 90%+ isopropyl and paper towel.
Alternate is to put a stripe of painter tape down and measure/mark. I prefer the mark on the topsheet as it’s one less thing to go wrong (ie removing the tape/having it fall off), even if that is super unlikely.
ASmileyFace - looking at those Jones quick clips as I have a pair of Contour skins that I want to use my on STs. The Contours have the nylon strap (with some minimal rubber impregnated in it) and I was trying to think if I could just use the metal clips and thread the nylon strap on the Contours (maybe double back somehow to account for thinness of the nylon strap compared to the rubber strap). Trying to avoid buying the kit for $60.
If I could find a single clip that was attached to some type of tri-glide clip that seems like it would do the job.
Thx
Another mount Q, but on the 186 FR120's. I skied the current Bent Chetler 120 184cm -1 from rec and current 191 Renegades on rec.
6' tall, 160lbs. Generally I ski progressive mounts, but like a traditional ski at times, too. My daily drivers are the Deathwish and Deathwish 104. I like to be able to drive the tips, but also turn a reverse ski sideways and drift.
Mount them -6.5?

Skied my R120STs today and I have to say that it might be my favorite HL ski yet; which is to say my favorite ski yet.
Pretty much GOAT for a resort powski; perhaps GOAT powski period.
Find the steepest most blind rollovery tight treed terrain and charge with veritable abandon.
(Soft conditions apply; as in the snow should be soft).
But still pump -out every turn down the cat track to base, double jump pump the whoops, and even do slow controlled zipper bump turns on down the ridge following skiDad and his very young ripper daughter?
Yup.
;D
PS 12" forecast for tomorrow
Thanks MO. I have some old BD ascensions as well was just thinking this might be a 1-minute fix.
Pluff - between you and this storm cycle you are killing me. We have 23" forecasted for next 3 days but I told MO no rush as I had some shoulder surgery. But with that forecast and these reports those bad boys would have been out and so the my luck I probably would "clipped" a tree or two. Super stoked to get ST-FR on a week or so.
Oh, I don't have a daughter either.
I just fed out from hot to medium running the ridgeline down the bump field and caught up to said skiDad and his young ripper daughter.
He was showing the best way down, she was tailing him then I just folded into the line at the back for about 20 or so turns.
It was like they were doing really slow zipper bump 8s, and I was an extra at the end.
You in ALTA/Snowbird?
Luscious terrain there (only been to ALTA).
Heel quick (and then do your PT).
Pluff - I'm in the 'boat not quite AltaBird but we have our own goodies!!!
Thank you, sir! Mounting today. These skis are finished beautifully. I'm thinking of jumping on the AM100 pre-order and I haven't even skied the big brother yet.
It's raining here, so they won't be seeing ski time for a couple of weeks at the soonest. The sharks are everywhere and I'm tired of destroying skis that I love.
Since it's raining....

Mounted up and ready to get shready.
Finally got on my HL R120’s today.
Conditions were 18cm of fresh over night and we lucked out and got 5th on Peak Chair when it cracked. Lots and lots of wind blown deep stashes.
I’m on the 180 R120 @ -6.75cm (83 cm from tail).
I’ve been skiing the 180 FR110’s almost every day and they are so effortless. The R120 takes a bit more skill/effort/input than the FR110 which surprised me. The R120 feels more like the AM100. At first I was thinking I should have bought the FR120 and gone -6cm. Or maybe I was still feeling the numerous hazy IPA’s from last night. But the snow was deep and the lift lines were short all day (cause of the Edge Card blackout Dec 26-30)…we just kept lapping Peak Chair into Red. It was snowing and windy all day so refills every run. Really good day to test these out. Each run I got more comfortable…you can’t be lazy like you can on the FR110. Which is good. Makes you focus and ski better. Sometimes you gotta open your legs, into a bit wider stance and lean/press into the R120 shovels. Ski them. They want to be pushed. So it’s a great ski to complement to the FR110.
Got two runs in untouched fresh pow where the R120 planes up super well in untracked, no tip dive issues at all. You can carve or feather your pow turns...any shape pow turn is pretty easy on this ski. Going fast in fresh pow was easy.
Lots of runs today that were packed pow, with big and soft bumps, and at first I wished for more slitheriness like the FR110’s but then I would just say f it and point and go and the R120's would fly. Still able to scrub speed riding the tails, just not dead easy like the FR's. Better stability and suspension and they will go as fast as your legs will take you in soft snow, and then some.
Last run on Peak Chair was really dumping snow and very windy so Doom and Gloom was almost full fresh again. Ripped huge, fast GS turns in ~12” fresh. It was so good.
Tonight my legs can feel it. More hazy IPA’s will fix that.
First pic taken at 7:40 am in Creekside line….magical.
