My sister worked for MelloTron Keyboards in the 80s. Eric Bloom came on as a consultant and rep. She said he hit on her every day aka me too caliber. They were great when I saw them with Dokken and Aldo Nova. I've got an ax to grind with Bloom now though.
Sadly, I found some youtube footage from their last show in the Reno area and it looked like a bunch of fat, old people sitting in hotel conference room chairs in a hotel conference room watching a nondescript band run through a bad version of "Don't Fear The Reaper".. Granted the footage was obviously shot on a cellphone, but the band looked and sounded horrible.
I think I will save my money. I have their entire catalog, so I can just slap a few of their albums on, crank the volume to 11, dim the lights, drink some beer, and imagine I am seeing them in their heyday.
I see a lot of live acts. BOC always gets the crowd on their feet.
I wonder what impact the proliferation of click tracks has had on tribute bands. With the proper set up they are essentially playing along to the recorded version note for note. Way easier to buy the product than record all those tracks yourself or attempt to pull it off live night after night. Even Rush used click tracks on everything post Hemispheres. The
This is a local tribute festival next weekend https://www.ivesconcertpark.com/fore...sat-aug-10-11/ If the weather is decent we'll probably go, the wife and kids are more interested in it than I am but I bet some of it will be pretty good but that Stella Blues band isn't bad at all. The venue is actually just a couple of hundred feet from the dorm my kids will be moving into in 3 weeks so it's a good thing for them to get comfy with their new home away from home. I'll definitely be seeing Sam Bush in the same spot with them a few weeks into the semester.
^ There's been a few of those around here, NOT dead-themed though. There was a 2-day tribute fest with "Foreigner" and "Eagles" headlining a few weeks ago.
This joke show is coming to town and they want $35/ticket. Hahahahahaha......no.

We went to a fundraiser years ago. They had a solo act named Black Diamond. He was a black guy doing all Neil Diamond covers. Dude was incredible.
Not sure what to call these bands, but ArnoCorps and Austrian Death Machine are two acts that sing songs inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger...
