A DL or current state ID cards would need to be scannable, and only for vaccine status. My CA DL as what looks like a long narrow QR code. I don't know if that is readable by existing QR scanners, or do police carry special DL scanners. It also has a magnetic strip. If we wanted to scan existing DL's for vaccine info we would have to provide every venue with a scanner that somehow only accesses the vaccine info. Every vaccinated 12-16 year old and every older teen without a DL would have to get a state ID. It's all doable of course, as is a separate secure hard copy vaccine card, just not on a time scale to deal with a pandemic. I think CDC cards and mandatory masking will have to suffice, with digital cards for those who want them or for venues that want to market themselves as super safe. I could see an upscale cruise ship for example requiring secure vaccine ID, while Carnival just asks if you've been vaccinated and takes your word for it.

My CA digital card uses a QR code.

I just scanned my DL QR code. It's just my name. Maybe the cops can do more with it.

I, and I'm sure many others, are grateful that you have the patience to wade through this stuff--especially the Israeli covid dashboard which makes as much sense to me in English as it does in Hebrew. Thread drift. Back in maybe the 90's it was discovered that levamisole, another veterinary dewormer, was effective against colon cancer. Suddenly the price went from pennies a pill to 100's of dollars--although the research proving it's effectiveness was not done by the manufacturer. It was later withdrawn from human use due to side effects. I don't recall what regulatory steps were taken. I believe the drug had been previously FDA approved for human use for worms so no further FDA action was needed for off-label use.

So my lone unvaxed friend said he got Moderna shot 1 yesterday (after he got back from tripping balls for four days at Phish at the Gorge). He's a teacher and is mandated to get both doses. He's previously had COVID (confirmed via test and symptoms). He read the study that shows those with the most robust antibodies are those previously infected with COVID and one shot of Moderna. He rather just get the one shot, but State of WA is making him get shot 2.

I thought the general premise of vaccines is that the we only give people the bare minimum of the vaccine to get the result we want (or at least we strive for this, more or less). So why is WA making people like my friend get shot number 2? Is there any potential harm (both morally and/or medically) from getting vaccines that don't increase your immunity?

He shouldn’t get the second shot because he read some study on the internet?

Does he have the credentials to actually read and understand the study?
