It looks more like winter at Sugarbush than it does in Aspen right now.

I think sammy passed due to that transition at the bottom of the stairs. Makes my back hurt looking at it. But perfect for an 11yo.
No issues with the mank, it keeps the crowd light.
a grinch total bob, just cold and windy today.
Step sledding looks awesome. If I had done something like that with my dad when I was 11, I'm certain that my mom would have killed my father on the spot, and possibly me for doing it. Nothing like a walk down memory lane.
I’m thinking that a kayak could clear the steps and shoot right down to the water.

Word is all the seasonal programs are being canceled for the kids....... in Vermont.
now *that* is a lovely sight!
(and hoping your dad-in-law is doing better today)
WROD at wa wa, folks crowded together like it's 2018, not so much.
8 mos and worlds of changes after closing day at jiminy and scene looks eerily similar.
...and as for the sugarbush fishing shacks, at $400 a day wth does the bush charge for a hotel room on site??
they'd be smarter to set up reservable, heated porta-johns all over the hill. for that $400. container one still needs to mingle with the rabble at the restrooms.
Just finished clearing the driveway, it ain’t blowah

Yesterday was a bit more ... well, I wouldn't say quiet, given the howling wind (at one point when I was out of sync with my partner, his skintrack was already completely erased, even though he was only ~200' vert above me), cracking tree limbs (fortunately off trail), and our whoops of joy (skied beautifully, not the slow wet heavy mank I had expected).

Timing is everything ^
This place is about a 2 minute walk from Henris' in the Village.
www.airbnb.com
And a Snow Creek slope side for $429 after fees
https://www.airbnb.com
And a total of 3 [three] PJ's in the upper lot for the car lodge crowd about 100 yards from Clay Brook, long walk from the lower lots. A crew is installing support posts for a solar array in the Ruperts lot, not sure if they have their own PJ.

^^ so for an extra $29, a place to sleep, eat, running water and electricity.
but i bet they'll find takers for those shacks just the same.
fwiw that $400 is more than i used to pay for a midweek pass at MRG (when i could go to VT) , typically 10-15 county-club ski days at my favorite hill.
^^^ nice work jonathan. hooting and hollering is something i can still recall fondly!
FKNA I'm working on this. Got a new years resolution and everything.
I can tell you what sucked if that will help. I made a yo'mans effort to make first chair at Whiteface, coming a long way over two days. And I was first up against the RFID, right next to Ron Kon. My Gore pass was rejected. That set me back. Try as I might, the liftie would not give me one free lap.
I skied Whiteface Saturday and Gore today.
Whiteface was better. The snow was better and deeper which makes total sense. A few degrees matters at these temps. It was Broadway to Lower Valley to Fox. The top was in the clouds all day. The bottom was soft turny manmade that was smile inducing. I guess t-the-east is right, I had fun. The crowd was pretty small and by 11:30 there was no line at the lift.
Gore was a bit more WRODy, and there were more people riding a faster lift. It was pretty crowded. I knew it would clear out by noon, but I didn't want to ski so much in traffic until then.
Oh here's something, the new traffic pattern at Gore is ridiculously sucky.
It’s like a car wreck. I don’t want to know but I’ll listen with one ear covered

We had a term when I was coaching and we got down into some pretty bad skiing and course conditions at the back of the pack... “Rock Fight” as in two people repeatedly throwing good sized rocks at one another in anger. You don’t want to watch but you can’t bring your mind to turn away.
