Yup, those 70's are probably getting up-armored and sent back to the desert as embassy rigs or the like. Bummer, as a new LHD 70 series diesel would be my dream.

Yeah, she "Likes" the Rav4 but kinda hates the AWD because she came from a Subaru that was much more planted in snow and ice. Her commute is an hour each way over Vail pass a few times a week so she'd like something more burly. I'm thinking we put the wear and tear on the Sequoia. with some Hak10s or whatever is best these days.
Could be a badass ski trip mobile. Pretty easy to sleep in the back too.
Anyway, carry on with the LC talk, sorry to but in with my poser mobile haha
LC newbie here. I thought the used market was slowing down, but I just sold my '08 Taco for what I paid for it 7 years ago. Which is...nuts.
Now I'm kicking around getting an '03 - '07 LC/LX and willing to pay a bit more for a clean/stock model with maintenance records and less than 150k miles. Looks like the market's around $20 - $25k for what I'm after. Does anyone know if that's about average? Or are those just the overpriced ones sitting on the market?
Regional bubbles skew the prices pretty wildly.
LC market has softened a touch but demand is still high.
Make sure the water pump and timing belt were done recently, it's a $1000-1800 job.
Thanks. Yeah I'm in MT and figured I'd buy within a short flight/day drive from here, but I'm likely paying inflated prices as a result. Although the $23k '06 LC that prompted me to post this turned out to have a bunch of accidents on Carfax so I bailed.
I've since found an '05 LX with under 100k miles for $28k, but at that price, I'm tempted to just bump to a 200 series. Or a '16 - '19 GX even starts to look tempting (but likely too small for the fam). Or for a bit more than that, I can just get a Kia Telluride and be the real envy of all the soccer moms out there...
The gx460, while newer and arguably nicer, is not the desirable off road rig the older 470 is.
Gotcha. Honestly, other than fitting a family of 5 comfortably, a stock GX does all I'd need it to.
Pretty tight in the back for 5, like normal sedan/small-mid suv sized.
3rd row seats are usually immediately put on a shelf in the garage as access to them sucks and storage with them in place is greatly reduced.
I bring up the 470/460 thing for off-road ability but also for resale. 470s are holding their value like crazy, not sure if that will happen with the 460s
The 460s third row seats are slightly less of a joke than 470s.
By that I mean; I can handle sitting in the back row of a 470 for 5min max. For a 460 it’s maybe 15min max.

Oh interesting about resale. It's been surprising to see how many pretty affordable 460's are sitting unsold on FB marketplace. I think they're off the list as my youngest could probably handle a trip to a local trailhead in one of those 3rd rows, but def not a several hour ride to a campsite.
Also the 3rd row in the 460 folds flat to the floor so at least they’re more convenient to use than the 470, which take up a ton of cargo space and are therefore likely on a shelf in your garage.

Yes they are, sitting on top of the 80 3rd row seats
My 470 third rows were sold for $100 on craigslist after living in the attic for four years.

Damnit. This is how I end up in Kia :D
I've been shopping 460's quite a bit recently, since a '10-'13 460 is likely our next car. If it was just me, I'd get a late model 470, but wife wants something ~10 years or newer. '10-'13 have comparable approach/departure angles to the 470; 2014-2023 have the aggressive front grille/lip that kills the approach angle. I'm quite sure we'll outgrow the GX in 3-5 years time, but it's the right compromise for her and I and our family needs/wants for the time being.
The downside to the 460 3rd row seats (on top of being miniature) is they're not practically removable and the "flat floor" is actually 3-4” of raised floor in the cargo bed. Not a deal breaker, but I'd rather have the removable 470/LC style seats that I could put in storage:

Wasn’t the gx460 basically another trim design for the 150-series (aka prado)?
I think the “gall boys” drive/drove one around all fuck all in Australia dragging around a large off-road trailer. The few videos of their that I’ve seen, the trucks seem pretty capable. I don’t pay attention to what mods they’ve done on their truck. But it’s a diesel.
Yeah, 470 was a Prado 120 variant and the 460 is a 150 variant. 150's have global usage and are plenty rugged and capable - we drove one around Oman for 10 days through all conditions
