Great. Now I'm hungry for cheesecake.
Sweet, or savory?
I think I might, just might, be able to make it tonight.
Anything I need to know prior? (I'm good with joining the meet up and other Zwift basics)
Communicate over Zwift Companion or something else?
I'm planning to pedal out of doors on my local trails this afternoon, gonna try and get out there right at 3:45 or so... sneak one in before SNOVID-21 buries us in the next blizzardemic.
All cheesecakes are very delicious
7 riders tonight.
XtrPickles joined us for the first time. Showed off some big numbers.

We also had
huckbucket (P.MJ)
E.W.G. (F.R.)
Wendigo
BennyMac (B.M.)
Suit (F.S.)
Dee Hubbs
Those pickles are spicy.
That was good fun. Thanks for letting me join. If it wasn't for the meetup, I might have skipped out on riding today and I'm glad I didn't. I'll save my days off for watching the snow fall this weekend.
Oh Snap!

Or I should say Kicker!
Mrs Hubbs will be happy!
There ya go!!

Big ups to Benny Mac for finishing The Full PRL today! I saw him a bunch of times during the ride. I think he finished in 6 hours 14 minutes.
I finished it in 6:36. 3 water bottles, 3 electrolyte bottles, 3 bananas, 3 protein bars, 3 fig newton bars.
4 shirts changes and one bib change.
Socks stayed high all day long!
I calculated I’d finish in 6:20, but that was based off of 11 laps of London Loop. When I crossed the arch after lap 11 there was still 10km left. The course took you through town like parade procession to wave at everyone. That was a hard 10km, I was already done in my mind, and I didn’t want to wave at anyone.
Legs are feeling okay, but we will see what tomorrow brings, might not see ya guys in the TGR rides this week!

Nice work to Dee and Benny. Representing the TGRs.
Dayum
Big ups right back at you Dee. Was nice seeing a friendly face amongst the horde.
I’m feeling a bit crippled. The victory lap through town was definitely unnecessary.
Ate a big breakfast with eggs and cheese - went and watched one period of my wife playing hockey - now back home with bacon cheeseburger and poutine from the concession stand. I think this is what they mean in the training thread by “recovery”?
My goal was to keep a constant pace for 6.5hrs, I didn't have access to a spreadsheet, so I went old school with masking tape and sharpie on the top tube.
Marking down elapsed time as I passed the lap arch and doing the math to see my indivdual lap times. Anything to keep the mind active.

My actual spilts from Strava were actually pretty constant:

We really missed an opportunity to change the sock height slider on different laps to see if it made a measurable difference.
Well done boys. Said it before, but I think London is one of the harder worlds even when you're not on the hills.
Need a rundown of the entertainment. Which movies? What music?
I think it’s awesome that Dee wanted a spreadsheet so badly without his computer that he wrote one on his top tube in crayon.
For some reason I don’t get bored on zwift - even riding 11 laps of that loop. I have music playing (mix of 90s hip hop and techno) but have yet to feel the need for putting a movie on. My wife thinks I’m crazy for getting up early on a Saturday to ride for 6 hours - more so that I don’t get bored.
I guess part of the lack of boredom is due to my need to focus on managing my effort closely or else I’ll bonk or blow up. I felt like ass at the 75km point. Took a break and changed my kit and drank a bunch of fluids and felt good after that.
Legs are super sore today - a lot more than they were after Uber Pretzel last month.
I had the football on. I watched 3 full matches with all the in between game analysis.
I don’t really get bored in Zwift there’s enough to look at, and enough metrics to keep my mind moving. Constantly calculating lap times, estimated overall times, reverse calculating watts to w/kg, calculating what power zone that is based on FTP.
I also like to look at all the other riders and picked out some new kit I want, based off of what looked good out on the road. I have some new shoes, glasses and a helmet in my upcoming future level ups, some motivation for more XP points.
I can’t have anything on the TV for a TGR ride. I’ll focus on a break away in a hockey game, and then look back at the Zwift screen and realize I’m 15m behind the group.
For this big ride I set my iPhone to beep every 10 mins, so I would drink, and on the 1/2 and full hour I’d eat.
I had lots of shirts ready for changes, and did the bib change/cream re-apply on the downhill coast at the 3:20 mark. That only added 2 mins to my normal lap time.
I agree it takes some concentration to keep yourself in your power zone (to avoid over doing it), but with two big TVs in front of the bike, it’s a quick glance between the two screens.
I also run my Companion app on the handle bar, with my Garmin out front computer also going, with data from a my crank based secondary power meter.
Garmin screen is set for a 4 field screen w Watts, Average Watts, W/kg (instant, not 3 second smoothing) and cadence. I look at the power numbers on my bars more than on screen, even in a TGR ride. I think it mimics my normal outdoor riding habits.
I felt pretty good the whole time, I only felt bad for that stupid final 10km after the lap 11 banner. But I think I was mentally done by then, especially since it was 20 minutes over my calculated time.
Legs actually feel pretty good today, just really hungry this morning. I just did a 25km spin to move some blood in my legs. I got Mrs Dee a new Wahoo Kickr (ordered in Oct!) so we did a little side by side spin at 2.0 w/kg in France to knock out a badge.
I use this one

You're on the right track. I'm on the same program, but I used 2 part epoxy to ensure it was not sketchy.
I paid some young whippersnapper $10 to 3D print me a few Garmin male mounts. I epoxied one to the back of the cheapest soft plastic $5 iPhone case I could find at Walmart. Then I just used the Garmin Female bar mount with rubber bands. It stays mounted to my bike. I just snap my iPhone out of my everyday case, and snap it into the bike case.
I oriented the male mount on the iPhone case so that can run the iPhone vertical on the stem with my Gamin Computer mounted out front, or I can run the iPhone horizontal on the out front mount.

I think I need to grab a different case: The silicone one is proving to be a bit "non-stick"
Pleased to report that I am no longer a sockless heathen.
Also, after trying to watch a movie during one of Zwift's canned interval workouts yesterday, I'm probably giving up on that. It screws up both the movie and the workout. I need to either watch even shittier movies, or try out music or podcasts.
If you're into that sort of thing Survivor is the shit for ERG rides. It's super predictable, doesn't matter if you miss several minutes, entirely inconsequential, but still pretty damn fun. I didn't even know I liked it until started zwift and was hunting for something to watch.
Movies are hard during workouts.
But, a soundbar and subwoofer immediately in front of you are great...
For base rides, I put a TV series up on the TV. I've watched all of Breaking Bad, Etc. this way. I only let myself watch it while riding, this keeps me looking forward to the next ride.
I recently bought a cheap monitor and used an HDMI splitter to keep an eye on Zwift.
When Racing, doing workouts or an event, I run Zwift on both so that I don't have to constantly be looking up at the TV.
AppleTV running Zwift to the Splitter. The splitter then goes to both the Monitor and the TV.
This way I can change Inputs on the TV to the Chromecast to watch shows.

The ride tomorrow is showing as 6 pm Pacific, rather than 5 pm. Is that correct, or some kind of daylight savings hiccup?
6 riders tonight (almost 7)
Attachment 367689
Justcuz KR
Merlyn SS
XtrPickles
VtSkibum MP
Grmountainman GR
Dee Hubbs (could only hold on for 2 laps)
Honorable mention to DanPDX who shows up to the starting line, but never made a single pedal stroke in game (I bet he was furiously pedaling IRL)
I won’t be there Thursday, I have the late volunteer shift at the Vaccination Clinic. (Plus my legs need a rest)
I noticed Zwift asked for an update on my AppleTV once I ended tonight’s ride. Check to make sure you’re App is up to date.
Thanks for hosting as usual DH, especially on post century PRL legs

Sorry I missed boys. All this training thread talk convinced me that what I really needed today as a nice base ride. So that's what I did.
"Look coach, I did it right. Once. But still."
I'm planning on Thursday.
