Who knew the LeBaron was such a versatile machine?
I read that in Motor Trend (I think) yesterday. The unauthorized/hiding-the-ball data mining by GM and others flies in the face of what insurance is, pooled risk among a larger population; not individually-tailored insurance pricing based on your real time data.
I hope someone in congress cares about addressing this, but I have zero faith that anything will get done because those people only care about themselves and grandstanding enough on tv to get reelected. /Rant over.
I'd rather be on the road with some dude in a WRX going 15 mph over the speed limit on the highway and paying attention to driving than some dude doing the speed limit texting on his cell phone. I would guess telemetrics would feel differently.
the antidote is obvious…

fact.
Same. I want the driver who is engaged. Not the one driving a giant iPad who lists driving somewhere around 7th in terms of priorities when actually behind the wheel.
Maybe we can have Baker and Emily call Flo and let her people know this aggression will not stand.
Well, yeah.
That or a nice LeBaron.
If you took HS physics, acceleration = dV/dt, so they know your velocity.
And if you don't believe that, here's what Progressive says.
"The Snapshot device plugs into the Onboard Diagnostic port of your car and records vehicle speed and time of day, when the device is plugged in and unplugged from the vehicle, the Vehicle Identification Number, and may record G-force and vehicle location using GPS. Other information, such as trip duration, miles driven, and rates of acceleration and braking, is derived from the data provided."
And this isn't about volunteering this information to the insurance company. That's a personal choice. It's about them buying the info from mfgrs without your knowledge.
Interesting fact I learned watching Moto GP race this weekend regarding deceleration. A Moto GP bike can go from 220mph to <50mph in 6 secs. I'd love to borrow someone's Snapshot dongle and attach it to a GP bike and see what sort of email they'd get.
The NYTimes article on that data sharing mentioned someone who got hit with a rate increase after a track day.
Apparently at least one insurer specifically flags speeds over 80MPH. I am glad I wasn't using them when I was in Montana.
Yo m27! Looking for a modern Tracker replacement?

I sent that listing to my 21 yo motorhead son and he replied "that's a weird looking car".
How about a Northstar V8 powered Pontiac Fiero then?

and with a sizable rusthole already formed, this puppy wouldn’t last one upstate winter before that floor opens up to a fred flintstone two foot drive system…

none taken. like you, my car fetish is quite specific.
fact.
Some may say we are just an exacting personality, with a nose for the finer things.
In fact, this finer thing caught my attention and now I can't stop thinking about it. Something like this would even make me drop my existing, exacting, car fetish.

Swap out Sunday River and that might have been me. My Mom had a '97 Limited LC in that same green over tan leather that I would take out any time I could. Thing was so swank. The 311 would get turned down when I came back into the neighborhood and the dank smell would be covered up poorly by yellow tree vanillaroma air fresheners that would sometimes accidentally get left in the car to my Mom's anger.
You know, we do have an 80 series thread
"Lug nuts are missing from the wheels."
FFS, BaT is full of punters.
