Silly me, for some reason I thought a timing chain lasted pretty much forever, hence my bitch about my timing belt needing a change every 90k. Guess I will be quiet now.

I think that was Audi's thought too. Hey, let's put a chain in there so it wont ever be a problem! They forgot about the tensioners though. Good thing they turned the engine around to make it fit, because now you have to drop the whole thing to get to the chain. Now that the whole fucking engine is on a hoist, may as well drop another grand or two to replace other shit stashed away in there.Quote:

This all reminds of why when I get my next Euro wagon (and I inevitably will) it better damn well be CPO. Thank God my Volvo's been pretty bomber so far with about 150K on the clock. Transverse straight 6 always makes me double-take, though. Can't believe they crammed that thing in there sideways. Been super easy to maintain so far (world's easiest spark plug swap), but I rue the day this thing starts nickel and diming me. I better start saving my pennies now for the next ride, huh?

You really want a little turbo 4 in your heavy ass wagon? I guess with an auto it's ok, but my audi was a turbo 4 with manual, and that combo sucked balls. And it was going to need a timing belt in 30k, and yeah, you were going to have to remove the front clip to do the timing. It was an 06. Maybe they have fixed it, but the underlying issue is that because the front diff is in the transmission directly behind the motor, the motor sits really far forward.
Gas is cheap.

Sure. I own a 335 that's a blast to drive. I don't compare it to the purpose of my Allroad, or the wife's XC70 T6. (I prefer my car with the engine hanging over the rear axle for real fun :D )Quote:

Any Audi 2.0t people ever have p2279 (Air Intake Leak) code? CEL came on today. Rough idle, underpowered at times, etc. PCV?
Take it to the Audizine forum whiteroom for really detailed help. But what is the result? You just throwing a code but car runs fine ?
Intake air leak means that the maf sensor is reading X amount of air, so it gives it Y amount of fuel, and when the ecu analyzes the output in the exhaust, the results don't match up to X air and Y fuel, so Ecuador says there is a leak in the intake somewhere. On a turbo car with an intake leak, the engine will run too rich while under boost (because metered air is escaping the intake under pressure), and it idles too lean (because unmetered air is sneaking in through leak due to vacuum). Leak will get worse, car will begin to get progressively more sluggish, and poor running. Fix it.
If you are handy, Google pressure testing an intake. The hard part is finding the leak. Once you find it they are usually pretty easy to fix.

Ouch. p2188 code thrown today. WTF?
It's another "fuel system" code. Was running so great for 3 days since the PCV was fixed and then this AM on my way to work the CEL came on again. Now it's idling rough again. Called the shop and they said they would look into it and call me back asap.
