I am officially declaring my JONG status and intentions of seeking Maggothood.
I created an account called "MysticPizzaTurn" but realized that if I actually end up meeting anyone from the forum having a name based on a cheezy Julia Roberts 80s movie and a beginner turning style is pretty lame. I therefore chose to rename myself to a name based on an equally cheezy 80s song and a ficticious porn star with a huge dong.
I live in CT and plan on meeting up with some Maggots at Magic. If anyone ever wants to carpool up to VT send me a PM.
figured i would do my meet the minions post.
I grew up skiing the little bumps in Southern Ontario and the occasional trip to Vermont, and then moved out to Washington state for college. I have about 14 years of skiing under my belt. As most people here, i love it when the snow is fresh and deep.
Greetings, TGR!!! Let's get the Jonging out of the way. Been lurking long enough.
Grew up skiing with the family all over Tahoe. Tried out snowboarding for nearly a decade, then switched back to skiing to keep up with the woman of my dreams (who wouldn't wait at the top of KT22 for me to strap my back foot in). Now happily married to said woman, who rips the shit out of every line and has the patellar and hamstring grafts to prove it.
Sixth toe be damned, skiing is awesome! Now just have to find me a good bootfitter...
I grew up near the Adirondacks, but had never been skiing until two months ago...in Alabama. I have caught on quickly and look forward to going, you know, somewhere else. I am interested in telemark and don't exactly know why. Also, I dislocated my shoulder last week while trying to snowboard.
I guess that about sums it up. I am concerned about how this new hobby will affect my kayaking habit, but I am having a good time with it so far and you all sound like my kind of people.
Cheers!
Kimberly
Lurking no longer! Howdy fellow addicts. I grew at in Sandy UT and spent my early days on the slopes of Alta. A lot has changed since then as I now ride a board and spend my days at Kirkwood. I'm hoping to move into the backcountry as soon as a little education falls into my lap...
Life is great but could easily be supplemented with a little powder!
Ayo! I'm from Upstate NY, however I ski the Mid Atlantic right now. Just started getting into skiing some glades, and hopefully some BC in the near future. I love fresh powder, and still am learning how to ski in it properly.
Hey there friends, I have been surfin the forums in here for too long. Gotten some good stuff but finally made an account and decided to post. I grew up in Oregon, have been shredding the west for almost twenty years now. Migrated to CO for two years, didn't get enough snow, moved back on the Oregon Trail. Been waitin for snow this year and finally am done with school this spring so I get to shred all next winter!
Another new one here. Figured I’d get post #1 out of the way. Not much to say… Grew up skiing in NH & VT. Skied all over the Rockies and ended up living in Squaw for a couple years. Moved to the bay area, got a job, got married, had a kid, moved back east, has more kids, couldn’t go as often, kids ended up playing other sports and it sure wasn’t the same skiing on weekends at Pat’s. Just stopped and started doing other things. Fast forward about 20 years... With all the snow in NH this year, I got the itch. My kids are now teens and I want to get them out so they can learn to rip. Problem is that I’m trapped in an old, beat up body. Since all my gear is “vintage”, I stumbled across here a while back while looking for ideas. I’m not sure if I’ll end up posting in the Gimp forum, Tech Talk or here.
Another JONG here. Grew up in Santa Cruz, CA and learned to ski at Sugar Bowl and raced for them for a few years (totally sucked at it). Lived in Ft Collins, CO for awhile then Logan, UT for awhile. Now I live in SW Washington and work as a fish biologist. I am just getting the skiing stoke back after a couple of years on hiatus. I have skied mostly in resorts but would love to learn some BC stuff. Love this site and will trade salmon and steelhead fishing info/secrets/trips on my boat for PNW info on BC gear/touring info/training of a newbie BC jong!!!
Another lurker joining TGR- JONG away. I live in Idaho and mostly ski at Grand Targhee. Planning on going to MSU next year and skiing a lot. Have touring gear but am too fat and out of shape to keep up with anyone older than 5.
I've been lurking for a while also. I've been snowboarding the majority of my life, primarily on the east coast, and am heading to Jackson Hole in 3 weeks. Like above, I'm looking at going to grad school at MSU, to finally get some real time in the mountains.
OK fine.
Started at age 12 or so, almost exclusively skied Bear Valley/Mt. Reba through high school. Now it's mostly Tahoe. Only 2.5 hours away with no traffic, studded Hakka 1s, and quattro!
My first post was in for sale, people were nice enough in telling me that I was full of shit. I appreciate that in a forum. I've been online posting, playing, and working since 1988 - almost certainly long before anyone who ever reads this post - so as far as fora go, I Get It. And that's why I appreciate this particular one, so far. No heavy handed mods censoring things to kowtow to the bullshit sensibilities of the pusillanimous.
The only thing that I haven't been able to figure out is uploading a fucking avatar! The page for changing it just doesn't have any links for that. Couple be an OSX/Safari or OSX/Firefox issue. Windows:computers::Salomon:skis - lots of people use 'em, lots of people love 'em, but they're all stupid
Hello maggots and jongs alike. Been following TGR for awhile, joined the forums awhile back and thought I should post up in here to get it out of the way.
Snowboard ditcher.
Noob MN skier.
Aspiring maggot.
Future bum - ski or otherwise.
Heading out to Bridger in a week - hoping to learn how the real mountains play.
Let me know if you can help a jong out... Mar 15-16 I'll be out there.
jong jong yo yo here, hope I dont get eaten. but I love to shred n schralp either way.
Hello!
Lurked for a while and decided it was time to post.
Headed to CO 3/26 til 4/2. Hope to slip into Avon between stroms sat. am and ski the Beav. pm. We'll ski either Beaver Creek or Vail each day depending on who gets more powder. I'll be wearing a green coat with black pants and chasing 3 kids, boys 6 and 9 and girl 11. If you see us say hi!
Another kneedropper here, with a love for fat skis and deep pow. Fast is where it's at! My name should give a hint as to my profession :-)
Been lurkin for years and posting on TTips and other sites, but I figured it's time...
Another kneedropper here, we'll at least when im not ski racing. Or going to school(which rarely happens anyways). Lived in edwards,co my whole life, and I dont care that you hate vail.
Ok three kneedroppers in a row
From Calgary Alberta Canada now in Los Angeles. Skied since I was 3. Snowboarded for a bit and escaped it since I sucked and skiing got so fun with fat skis and Telemark.
Lurked on here for years and TelemarkTips
Been lurking for too long.
Grew up in racing now living in Boston and looking for an out for deeper and steeper.
Most of the time I'm easy to find at Sugarloaf, as I'm the best skier on the mountain.
Esteemed Mags & Magettes,
Howdy! Long time lurker, first time JONG. Dig the think-tank here. I am a hunchbacked,yellow-toothed,sunburnt,arthritic,stinky,late,lost & dementia-havin' SKITARD. Didn't invent it, but been ridin' off-piste since before it was cool. I'll chime in from time to time but will mostly listen. I'll STFU now & resume lurking. Thank you.
Yep, I'm a mag. Post count ++
Speed is addictive.
guess i should do the intro thing and quit being a lurker. learned to ski at rose when i was little then moved away, moved back 3 years ago and ski as much as i possibly can.
work all summer, ski all winter and my parents approve:yourock:
Hi all---grew up in the Northeast, didnt start skiing until I was 14 and ski all over New England (the usual, Killington/Sugarbush/Stowe/Smuggler's/etc), still love to hit Suicide Six, Sugarloaf, Jay Peak on mid-week no-work days. Otherwise Wasatch (Alta, Bird), Whistler, and Mammoth make me envy the West Coasters who get to sink into the powder on a daily bases. Seeya!
Well, after a season of lurking I'll throw my drivel into the virtual mix here. I'm skiing mostly Kirkwood these days, living in the bay area.
