When he made his own thread asking what skis to get you told him to look at this thread. When he looks at this thread you tell him not to hijack the thread?
Who cares what he posts in this thread. Oh I forgot, you started the thread so you can call the shots right...
^^You're right Safety.
I became that guy: dick because they dont need your question answered. You'll find plenty of em on this board. We dont need any more. Sorry nexus
FYI there's lots of info on all of the skis you are thinking of. The gist of all this info (I have never skied them but I have read A LOT about them) is that 186LPs are the sickness, so are Praxis. That would be an amazing 2 ski quiver anywhere on the west. Here's the review link. Funnily, as I was searching, I realized that its pretty tough to find what you want sometimes on this site. Maybe more often than not "search JONG" is a useless statement.

BTW, if you are looking at LP and Praxis, also consider tha gotama, B-squad, 188 BRO, Kneissel Tanker, Lotus 138, ARG, and maybe ANT depending on how big you are/how you like to ski.
190 Explosiv maroon Budha
190 Gotama '08 w/ Dukes
The intent was to have the goats as my "pow" and BC/slackcountry setup, but after reading all of the 2 ski quivers here I think it's too much of an overlap ... should have gone with the Katana and put the Dukes on the Sploders.
Gotama
Dp lotus 138
186 LP, 185 praxis (soon)
thanks to the excellent info here, and koolaid chaser :)
NP, it's all good.
I guess the gist of my questions wasn't which of those skis to buy (as you rightly said there's plenty of info out there), but given that I can buy one pair this season and one pair next season, would you go with the pow ski or the all mountain first. I'm a PNW skier and don't bother to go unless there's less than 4" of new. Definitely going 190ish in any ski, I'm 230lbs and like making figure 11's.
Funny. My quiver is indeed two pairs, unless you count all the crap rattling around in the back room [i.e. 207cm Rossi slaloms, Landsem SSP 200cm skate skis and 210cm striders, Karhu no-wax touring, Bandit XX tele, RD Helidogs, etc. Yes, crap].
185 Rossi B3 [black/white] with Voile 3-pin hardwires. [2 days on 'em, luv 'em]
190 Gotamas [black/buddha-wood sidewall] with either a repaired Rossi Scratch 14, or 997's. [no days..yet :D]
depends. how wide is your rock ski ? and is it descent ? If it's legit, might want to try praxis. The thing is, reverse-reverse skis arn't fun on hard snow. If your rock ski is useless, the LP would be the safe call. You can ski pow on them, and everything else as well. The praxis (only) would result in a season like this - incredible days when it was soft, but the rest would be spent wishing you had the LP. If you are really not looking to ski your other skis, praxis might be to specialized man
ANTs=hardpack/chopped/larger cliff ski
Made'ns=softer parkish/jibby pow day ski
Almost the exact same footprint I know, and I'm still figuring out where to use which, but screw it they're both fun ass skis. I guess the reason I like these footprints so much is that I don't like to turn very much and these things both like to go straight.
So far I find the madens are a bit softer so they take a transition to a jump much better than the ANTs do, and they are a bit more fun (slightly turnier) in moguls/trees. The ANTs LOVE to charge, but can be a little hard to manage in tighter tree lines and they HATE the park. A lot.
How are those 2-ski quiver's looking now?
Still rock'n the Explosivs and the Gotamas.
If I had to do it over, I'd get something a little narrower 85mm and something wider maybe the DPS 120, or the Katana, or the new BRO rocker when it comes out.
But for now I'm happy, just when I think I'm getting tired of the Explosivs I'll have a day that I know I can't replace them and the Gotamas are my go to ski everyday except for when I know it's going to be firm. The Gotamas rule, it's just I now know I can go even wider and not sacrafice groomer performance and get even better soft snow performance.
1. Volkl Mantra, 184cm
2. Salomon AK Rocket Pilot, 195cm
Currently my 2 ski quiver is
180 tankers w/ mojo15
183 Goats w/dukes.
Ideally
180 tankers w/ dukes
185 ARG w/ Dukes
Prophet 130 with dukes
Volkl G4 (green) solli 914
tele:
Edition one Seth Pistol with rottefella cobra.
Home-made reverse camber goodness (drawing up dimensions) with BD 01.
I'm currently using 183 Gotamas for powder and 170 AC4s for everything else. I like my roommate's suggestion of switching to 185 Praxis and 183 Bro (maybe 179) late season or next year (tax return dependent )
177 Volkl Mantra
185 Praxis
I think I'll be pretty happy with this. I just got the Praxis to replace 183 Gotamas.
