Top of AM is just starting to cool back down. :frown:
For those who do not have it bookmarked:

Base is a cooling too. But is 35 deg F at 7pm.

Watching it pour at 6700' is starting to get me thinking about river flows vs snow reports.

Both the SFA and NFA might pop up to some fun levels. :D
Wife would kill me if I pull the "going boating" routine. :nonono2:
This looks encouraging......

A nice t-storm blew through mid-afternoon closing the lifts for a while. As it got dark the slush and frozen rain that was falling gave way to some heavy snow in the valley. 3-4" acumulation on the road right now, but damn it still feels warm out. Must be good higher up?!
These two don't seem to mind the conditions.
July last year, will it be the same this year?
more news from the valley...
just took the dog out. It's cold.
It's windy.
It's facking pouring rain.
Just so everyone else knows.....
Lou is in the Kirkwood Valley at 7800' :nonono2:

I'll be at KW tomorrow, either on Explosivs or Scratch FSs, black helmet (with Squaw, KW, AM stickers on it). Blue Arcteryx or weird beige colored TNF jacket. If you see me, and I aint too much of a gaper for you, yell at me...
WTF??!! :nonono2:

Kirkwood is saying 12-24" at the top, I'd be surprised, though the are throwing a ton of bombs.
I.E. - You probably won't read this, but I'll be out skiing at some point today and I'll look out for you.
I've been watching the Mt Rose updates this morning -- wind hold on the two main chairs. They just added this: "Expecting Wind Speed to Increase - We May Experience Wind Holds on Primary Lifts" -- they don't HAVE any other primary lifts, just the two 6-pack chairs.
I guess I have to go to work then... maybe head out this afternoon if the winds die down instead of increasing.
Definitely taking tomorrow off & going to Mt Rose, since I won't get any skiing this weekend with family arriving tomorrow afternoon.
AM is looking pretty sad.:frown:
We are staying home and having pancakes.
Prolly, go to Blue Coyote for lunch. Let the 3 yr old think she is playing the games there.
;)
I think the rock ski will back out tomorrow.
Squaw's website says they're closed, top to bottom.
Alpine's website says Roundhouse and Hot Wheels are open, Scott and Summit are on hold. More telling, perhaps, is that the cam shot is still yesterday at 4:15pm.
Rain Runnels on the snowpack at 9,000 feet on rose this morning at 8am.
this is so depressing......let's just hope that this cold one blows in early next week and makes us all forget about what a hell'ish week this has been. I was just thinking, if this was an all snow event this week, it would have rivaled last year in terms of dumpage.
Funny you say that...I have an Aussie friend there right now, and the email I got last week from him said:Quote:
I think Hokkaido is a better bet right now.
"The deepest, driest, powder I've skied in my whole life."
Mind you, this is coming from a guy that has been skiing year round for some time now.
Call the Kirkwood report....its funny. Cohee says 10,000ft snow level, but then also claims they got 2 feet on top of the mountain????? :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2
Freshies....don't worry...I leave for the Midwest tomorrow :)

Rain runnels at 9K on Rose? I'm out. See you after Xmas if the snow level drops.
Snow is about gonzo near Donner Summit:

Rain, rain, go away..
Come again as snow someday.
My wife told me that the fax they got at 5:55 am from Alpine Meadows at the Radio station she works at reported 41 degrees, rain and 50mph winds. That's not good.
this am they had reported 12-24" in the last 24 hours and then changed it to 4-8" later in the morning. Gotta love the rain.Quote:

Bored out of my Effing mind, I just took my three year old daughter "skiing" on the smallish patch of snow next to the Squaw Creek chair. I'm soaked. She's soaked. But she had a great time and thus so did I :)
Truckee? No, this is fucking Eureka or Crescent City weather. The view from in TD looks very North Coast.
Ok my depart the east coast to move to Tahoe date has now been pushed back, i need to make more money and all this rain made it an easier decision. Believe it or not AKA was the one that said "you are moving here with how much money, are you retarded? Push the date back" never thought i would have heard my bro say such words..................Jan 2nd is the new date........
Bullet just sent me an email from Mammoth...he said at the Canyon Lodge at about 8500' ft it was....get this.....
.....pouring rain. :nonono2:
This will be the extent of my snowboarding this weekend:

laaaaaaaaame.
Me & mine are coming up to Alpine Meadows on Saturday (24) :nonono2:
Along with a busload...
We were thinking of bailing...but looks like the forecast says sunshine on Saturday.
Better than rain, at least, as long as no freezing is taking place overnight. Fat chance eh
Spring skiing for real ?
Guess we'll find out :frown:
KW phone said the snow level is finally starting to drop to around 8K and should stay there overnight for a couple more inches.
Wind and warm?? :fuckyou: :fuckyou: :fuckyou:
Damn, that's way shitty!!! 8500'??? Fuckin shit. Excuse the french, of course.Quote:
