I was hoping for a $20 Ikon parking pass fee so Snowbasin doesn't get a ton of Solitude skiers who don't want to pay daily Solitude parking fees or didn't get a Solitude weekend reservation.

Jesus, Crankplank’s description was anxiety inducing. Although much appreciated from someone entering their first full season here and contemplating transportation options up the canyons.
Wish I could be in UT for this. Had the pleasure of skiing with John and riding the chair together in Kiroro Japan a few years back when he was filming for TGR. His comeback from two brutal injuries back to back is seriously inspiring. Plus the film looks sick!
Gotta brag bout the kid a little.
One arm pull ups outta the cradle.
10 miles and or 3,000' in a day.
Two outta three days.
32 pounds, age 4. His sister was only a year older, didn't weigh much more.
Blew my shit away, and away we went...
Never signed summit registers, but pretty sure we set age records on many peaks in the west.
Best years of my life...
Will see you there brother. Stoked for the fam and sick skiing. Look forward to meeting up.

Hell yeah, we'll be there
Stoked to see ya and to watch John get after it and ski some rad shit

Baldy didn't suck yesterday, we could probably use another 10" but soft turns are soft turns and I didn't get any new core shots

I'll fix the thread title eventually, bummed about Basin parking and the inevitable Solly refugees
basin sucks

Upon learning that it's not free; 20$ for a 20 minute film, mags are excused from attending.
Won't be any change for a nickel at those prices.
Johnny is horrified and embarrassed that this isn't free.
I guess there's a raffle with good swag, and the money raised goes to the UAC, but his intent wasn't followed.
It'll be online sometime...
noice that he remains insulated from that stuff...
anyone heading up to Solitude today or this weekend to kick off the ski season in Utah?!
So, here to promote Johnny's film again.
Talk about wishy washy, eh?
He's gonna preface the film with a shorter film about his knee dislocation and recovery. Pretty good stuff.
And have a Q+A session after with his sister.
Worth the price of admission now...
Problem with getting rid of the Valley Gun at Snowbird is that it tests and mitigates the mid canyon paths in the wilderness area.
It would literally take an act of congress to pour concrete, etc. to use any other remote system.
Why I was prodding Xover a coupla months ago bout how the Army whose weapons are on loan to us feels about that.
They don't think highly about civilians shooting their cannons.
Specially over occupied buildings which thankfully is now in the past with all the Wyssen towers in the upper canyon.
Anyone here have an ATK RT10 jig and like beer? Maybe a shoulder bit too
^^ I gots one too....
Very cool movie series with the Collison’s and bjarne. Great vibe and big mountain lines slayed. Have an adventure was great and seeing his recovery story was inspiring. Great to hear angel wants to ski again and see the family. Tgapp in attendance and UT Avy Great time !!!

More coverage on the howitzer retirement…
https://www.sltrib.com/sports/2023/1...res-howitzers/
I just saw John Collinson's film is now up on YouTube for those mags that couldn't attend the UAC event.
Well done.
Just watched on YouTube. Loved the film, the shots, the storytelling, the quotes…bravo to everyone involved. That line on the Cottonwoods ridgeline was puckering!
Answer your question(s) TFW? Sorry I didn't answer sooner; didn't think those in charge (no pun intended) would appreciate lil' ol me making such knowledge public ;) For once, a very accurate news article. They did however forget the one at the top of Sundance. Considering the areas it shoots, I don't see that ever going away for the forseeable future.
Also, for those that weren't able to attend PROSAW, below is a link to all the sessions. My friend and former, fellow co-worker Liam's is both excellent and very enjoyable.

Thanks for those who posted the vid and sltb article. For journalistic brevity, various stuff is left out, but both do a decent job of info about the UT big picture. Before the 105 Howitzer, various artillery were used including 75mm Pack Howitzer, 75 mm Recoiless Rifle, 105 Recoiless Rifle and 106 Recoiless Rifle. I had participated in a gun mission at Alta when the 106 RR was there. The 106 RR was replaced by two models of the 105 Howitzer throughout the US and Canada due to inbore explosions (with a fatality and numerous injuries....). The 105 H will still be around for a while with various highway avy mitigation programs including CO, UT, WA and WY. Also, some ski areas will be using the 105 H for some time as no good locations for RACS.
The stoke is very much appreciated, even moreso since Im pretty much out from skiing until Christmas (broke collarbone, shoulder blade and wrist riding Spinal Tap 6 weeks ago). I haven't posted much the last couple years, but will look forward to posting some good stoke once Im off the IR. Also, anyone who snagged a full season Soli parking pass is going to make a lot of friends.... Unfortunately I missed out on one. I would describe my ill fated attempt to buy one, but I get the feeling Im going to need to ration my bitchtickets for later in the season.

Thanks to all who offered an ATK jig, I got the hole drilled shout out to D-Roc.
Will re-pay in stoke when available. Currently nursing a vicious sprained ankle thanks to dirt bikes, but going to try and get in a boot this weekend.
