No. Sex is one thing women can do with their bodies.
Women's bodies are not for sex.

No, he actually said the opposite--he said she was willing. Someone else then made a joke about it, but he never admitted otherwise, and I actually tend to think the guy was honestly saying that she knew she had been photographed and was OK with it. Not seeing why you would assume otherwise based on some posts that were clearly making light of it.
This is one of those subtle ways of objectifying women. Women's bodies are also for things like skiing, bike riding, running, soccer, walking down the street or sitting in a chair. Women own their bodies, and women's bodies are not men's playthings. Think about this with regard to Part 2 or the Ullr thread.
Come on. You are not this dense.
He said she was willing. Someone says it doesn't look like she was willing. He replies with "details"
At best, it leaves her willingness at unknown.
If we are going to get serious, shit like this matters.
It is absolutely NOT ok to post photos of women's breasts without their consent. That means not even posting ones that look like they aren't consensual, and certainly not providing positive reinforcement for it.
Oh Christ. What is the purpose of a species? To survive and reproduce.
No, it's not. And I included men just the same. No one said they were playthings. What you missed from my post is that for all of the diminishing of women - and granted it happens on a much grander scale, mind you - I sure as shit don't see the reverse being called out when it happens. And I'm seeing it a lot more in recent years. I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em?
No, I still think your assumption is wrong. It is very clear that his response to the joke was also a joke. You are reading into it something that you want to be there, which actually isn't. I just don't see why you would assume that a joke is actually serious. I could provide any number of examples of the same kind of posts. If you read them literally you would believe the opposite of what had actually happened was true.
I'm not saying I can know for certain, but your assumption is certainly based on facts you don't know. Based on what the guy stated she was willing. And again, I don't know who is fit to judge whether or not a photo 'appears' to have been taken with consent. Unless we ban all those photos we will have to take some people at their word.
I think a response to this is that when men are objectified the context is different and it arguably has a different effect.
Now, I will grant you that the example you cited (of people automatically assuming men are inferior parents) does represent a kind of reverse sexism that is pretty common.
And btw, it's not like I disagree with the theory of constant objectification, etc. etc. - I just tend to jump into a devil's advocate position when someone takes an extremely complex issue and oversimplifies it. It's why I just need to not argue with mtngirl, as the same thing happened a few weeks ago too. I'm sure it won't be long before mtngirl turns this back on Dexter.
^^ Hahahahaha holy shit that was funny. Posted at the same time.
2 Mtgrl questions: do you think everyone views every thread, or have you already considered that the lack of conflict in various threads comes from the fact that people who don't want to talk guns, share pron or get political just skip those threads?
And second, did you mean "tits or GTFO?" And serious or rhetorical?
Sorry. Tits or GTFO.
I'm just pointing out what the community will tolerate and what it will not.
It's interesting, isn't it?
Not really.
It's all going to be possible in a few years. The possibilities are endless!

Can’t wait for my chair/gondi rides with uptight people, and PornHub stickers all over my gear!

I'm not sure how interesting it is. I always see it as an unfunny inside joke. In which case the interesting thing is who "gets" that and who doesn't. Then again, I may have missed that unicorn when someone actually responded with "ok!" It's possible that hope springs eternal in some who say that, but I think you'll be right more often if you assume they know better.
About that other question, who should police the pron threads?
I'm with you on the nudity =/= sex or porn BTW. Your latest synopsis seemed very apt.
Tits or GTFO is harassment. It's a cat call
Does seem kind of antiquated when you think about, the whole, tits or gtfo thing.
Jesus Christ, I think I'm evolving.
Kind of antiquated? It's hyperbolically antiquated. As in: the sarcasm/irony should be obvious. It's the people who don't see it that way that I worry about.
it's men to men because it's exactly the sort of thing that makes almost exclusively men feel comfortable here
It's hazing... the same as STFU jong or show us pics of your sister / mom. Is it sexist and immature? Well of course. But if you're taking that literally you're really missing the point. And... well, I'm not really defending it to be honest, but whatever, I get its intention. Without some of that there'd be a thread with everyone stoked about the next Warren Miller movie. ;-)
I never understood the whole unsolicited dick pic thing, either... which is basically the same thing as pulling it out in person (just slightly less awful). I mean... has that ever worked for any guy ever? Actually, don't answer that...
Isn't it time for Greg from AlpineZone to step in here? :)
just because a lot of men on a sports board enjoy it, think it's fine and tolerate it doesn't mean some or many women would share those sentiments or that's it's ok or respectful even if they tolerate it.
it's childish when it's children. it's much worse than childish when it's adult men, who have most of the power by default in this society. it's so omnipresent in our society i have been talking about these issues with my son for a couple years at some level and he's 6. the adults set a very poor example in readily available mass media, news and events.
You are like so fucking PC brah.
i have the pc guerilla handbook by the shitter.
I don't disagree. The reason I asked Mtngirl was that I wondered about the reading, not the writing. As b-bear recently said elsewhere, "it's kind of our schtick here but it's like when you can't stop an inside joke that has gotten old and stale." Doesn't make it funny or good, but once the age of the joke becomes 90% of its substance the real meaning has been changed. Drama can be stirred by ignoring that fact though. Which is nice.
The animal angle is key in managing expectations. Cat calls are tacky, but it's not a right to live free of them. The further you go out on the fringes of sexist activity, the more reciprocal the issues seem to be.
Reforming campus life could be a good way to make a difference in future generations' experiences both in the formative college days but also professionally. Expanding the scope too wide in this big moment will dilute the impact where it's needed most.
I've always thought the phrase "objectification of women" was not that useful. We all function as sex objects. This isn't inherently bad. The problem is that the act of objectification is often a diminishment of other aspects women, or even downright violent.
I met an anti-porn activists once a few years back. Her examples of how porn actresses are abused, or even enslaved were truly horrific. Nonetheless, I think banning porn is as bad an idea as banning all the drugs that people are going to abuse anyway. Banning a masturbation aid will only result in a more abusive black market. I think there should minimal abuse/exploitation standard for sex workers- certified free trade organic porn.
My friend’s wife is a pretty prominent figure in the international fight against the child sex trade (she has told me stories I wish I could forget) and she fully agrees with the first part and strongly disagrees with the second part, assuming you don’t just mean performers. She’s overseen comprehensive studies on both.
Btw- the studies that correlate porn use to increased sexual aggression are deeply, deeply flawed. They make nice headlines but don’t hold up at all to closer scrutiny.
I think that we need a new more modern and politically correct way of de rigueur Jong initiation /abuse( cause that’s mainly what I see the “T’s or GTFO” used for).
How about:
“Please share your intimate photos of your mammaries with us and if for some reason you consider it an objectification of women or otherwise don’t wish to consent to the sexualization of your glands for the feeding of infants kindly consider leaving this particular forum”
