Chaka: It's the Sierra, not the Sierras. Pliss to fix so you are look less gaperific.
Bwaaaaaahhaaaaaaaaaha...
So many people want to put the "s" on 'em for the plural...kooks on the weather channel do it all the time, there is even a commercial on the local Mammoth radio that does it as well....I gave up trying to correct people, unless I am blatheringly drunk, of course.
peace,
D.
Just like I ski in the appalachian, the rocky, the cascade and wasatchs:D
I got one run down gentian. It was good but it was sluffing off the old layer pretty badly down there. Things were moving but not so badly they didn't open upper beaver and estelle.......which were goood.
Looking like sunday should be better than saturday at this point........
my tickets for Sierra were blacked out today Shoe. So, I decided not to subject your pristine skis to the granite rocks lurking under the snow at the Heave. As expected Heave got the least amount of snow of the South Lake resorts, about 2 feet (less than my backyard) and I hit a 'shit ton' of rocks. So, I am glad I didn't take your new Lotusesss (Loti?) out.
I will say that upper Avalanche Bowl at the heave, although thin, was a blast as long as you stayed light (and had really really fat skis- like pontoons). Many face shots were had in there and it is a great pitch for tree skiing.
BTW, I am growing to the love the Toons. Spats are going into semi-retirement.
Snow on Sunday incoming but 90 mph winds on the ridges. F**k.
HASKINS: "Almost too deep to ski"
From earlier
and now
I sense a trend Len, you should get a MRI of your domepiece before something really goes wrong!
oh and Haskins is a jib monkey now, if the snow hasn't been groomed and pushed into nice jumps; "it is to deep to ski":FIREdevil
They opened the backside as predicted.:frown: :frown: :frown: :tdo13: :tdo13: :tdo13:
Damn dude, two or three threads out there right now with you jabbing me! ;)
You miss my 6 ounce Martinis don't you? I think you need one to put you in a good ole friendly mood.
Yeah, Haskins is telling me he is gonna buy the Pollard Pro model Prophets next year, we'll see.
HAHA, I was actually thinking about those threads while I was posting that. Just a little bitter that the dumps are starting to roll in in Tahoe, all I want is a 5-8 foot storm. Is that to much to ask? Oh and it can't come before March 12th, because I will be in Japan until then..........
yeah a 6 oz martini couldn't hurt either!
fuck me you're not kidding bout the lurking rocks at the heave lph and you're a brave man for hitting a-bowl. on my 1st run down mott i hit a rock that threw me down hard into another rock in my back. wind was knocked out of me and i'm all sorts a gimped up now. actually had to ride the gunbarrel chair down:nonono2: cause i was so hurtin. now i remember why i haven't skied there much this year. shitloads of rocks still on or near the surface, gaping hordes, not as much snow and pretty tame terrain. shoulda called it a day after the 2 laps we did at p-house this am. that there was some kickass skiing w/ every turn sending blower over the shoulder. so that track is already punched walter but i gotta say its a pretty beat one and i can't take credit for it. when we showed at the trailhead there were already 7-8 cars there by 6 am. after some settling today and no wind to speak of, tomorrow/sat could be time to push it in the bc (if i can even walk).
can any of you folks that hit kwood today tell me if you noticed any natural avy activity around carson pass??? thanx
sorry to hear that gimpy. that sucks. if you feel the need for any radiation exposure, lemme know.
I realize I don't know the heave very well. but really I couldn't have been more dissapointed. 'Maybe' 2 feet up top and just SHITTY coverage. And to be honest some of the runs it was tough to even turn the toons it was so mellow.:nonono2:
the avy bowl runs were by far the best, but man, i was light as a feather on my skis and skied each pitch only after deciding on every turn before i even started skiing.
squaw was so fucking money today and didnt even know it.
such good laps on kt headwall granite and silverado. blower.
skied with jamie blair today (bigtime lurker i found out) and he was sending it like the good old days. it was fun. i'm happy.
its maybe just going to get better.
Kirkwood was
ALL FUCKING TIME
I'll write more later. But here's a teaser. Faceshots til closing. PERFECT landings. I'd say it was jaw dropping, but if you opened your mouth you choked.
My first run was top 10 lifetime. Maybe top 5. Infuckingsane.
Oh and Haskins was right. If you were anywhere remotely flat, it was too deep to ski.
Yup heav got half of kweeds total... Again? Mostly knee deep and once in a while deeper. There are things to grab at ya still though. I think we are approaching the 100" for feb. Anyone been in lil alas*a this week?
yeah, i hear ya len. seems just about every time i go to raider nation i'm a little disappointed these days. while it can be fun w/ low elevation snow making firebreak, raleys and avy bowl in play, this year has been a bust. i'm pretty over it except for taking my boy out and when firebreak is doable. if it wasn't for taking my kid there to teach him to ski and the convenience factor i wouldn't bother buying a pass there next year. if it was any more then $300 i'd be real hard pressed to buy one as it is. i'll be sticking to the bc for the foreseeable future until we get lots more snow.
I love taking one for the team. If I hadn't been surfing perfect head high warm water barrels at Superbank with the likes of Mick Fanning, Bruce Irons, and all the bikini clad chicks practicing for the Roxy Pro, then maybe I'd be pretty pissed off about missing this storm.
See you chumps in a week and a half, when we'll resume the previously shitty winter conditions
