EDG, that visualization thing was way cool.
Now that we have $1.48 worth of people's 2cents, I am going to make it an even buck fifty. This round of ski designs I was not as happy with as the first round designed by DM. I think PM should have a sweet graphic to go with what we know is going to be ONE BAD ASS SKI. Sure you could make it a "sleeper" (mellow graphics and skis like a bad ass. But I think a majority would prefer to have it look AND ski like a MOFO. I want some graphics that are kick your mom in the face schweet to go with it. A name and a design theme would be a good place to start, then design with those parameters.
now, what length of these skis are you guys bringing to hood?
My comment had nothing to do with what skis we're skiing. My comment was specifically related to the 5 topsheet designs presented.Quote:

edit: I believe Crinkle's saying the same thing. ^
My guess is you're never going to get 90% of the vote on much anything in this world. Especially graphics. Believe me, I've seen plenty of graphics go through focus group testing.Quote:

For all you low-key LS9000 lovers out there... ;)
Absolutely. Why all the bro?
when it comes down to it I couldn't really care less about the top sheet(I ski Fischer 86's). this ski is going to rip regardless of what it looks like.
Just curious as to why the design most of the people rated (the blue bomber) never made it to the next phase? That ski kicked ass. Just a bit of fine tuning and it'd be a doozy.
We could call a big black powder ski a Gotama or a Tanker but I think Volkl and Kneissl have already beaten us to it. I don't think anyone has made a 189cm spam javelin though.
I was thinking more along the lines of "Pork Sword" for men, and "Meat Whistle" for girls. ;)Quote:

Agreed. Perhaps the 90% number was a tad unrealistic.Quote:

However, I would like to reiterate that scrotal tightening did not occur. :p
C'mon ~ Pump some java, red bull and/or "bottled water" into that gourd & give us some BEEF!

Nice, but make the color "Dog-Dick-Red".Quote:

This whole design thing has been a joke. You can't be designing a ski before the people that need to make decisions will actually sack-up and make a decision with regard to names and the elements used on the ski. PM Gear needs to find harmony within its own members before looking elsewhere. The first design I spent hours working on (mudflap trucker girl, per Splat direction) got shot down before even getting to here. So to be honest...to have the most success and not waste the time of the designers involved PM Gear needs to sack-up and make some decisions WITH ONE VOICE as to WTF the ski will be called and the theme of the ski. Then you can go design. [/2 cents]
How about this one:
My suggestion is to make em white or black solid, with ski name on it, and give a bunch of stickers away with them. That way the skier can do some customization.
if there's a url or whatever on the skis, i think that should be placed in between where the binders would be mounted. actually, i think most text or whatever should be placed where it'd be largely hidden once the skis are being skied upon.
the skis appear one way when we're looking at them as a graphic on the internet and appear quite differently once they're real skis attached to me.... know what i mean?
I totally feel the monkey's pain here. This is pure torture for a designer to try to satisfy the totally subjective wants of a diverse group. Somebody's got to take the bull by the horns.Quote:

On the other hand... I don't know if it was facetious or not, but McWop's idea above kinda blew my mind. Why not consider something like this? A very basic topsheet (black with PMGear placed at the tail) and a pack of cool stickers. They'd have to be top-quality stickers (foil, vinyl, etc) so that it wasn't cheesy, but there's some real possibilities there. Let the monkey go mad with some sticker designs and let the buyer decorate as desired.
IMHO, the new round of graphx are cheesy......i like dm's first set of graphx.....everyone fricking chill on the "bomber" issue.....jesus....
but then again, i don't buy skis for the graphx (well, they might catch my eye.....)
i usually end up covering my skis anyway if i don't like the looks.....i ended up spray painting my seth pistols black b/c that damn neon yellow and pink was real annoying.....and i would end up doing the same to any of the 2nd gen graphx posted here.....
hope i am not hurting anyones feelings, cause that ain't the point, just tossin' out an opinion here: to be super honest, i prob;y won't but a first generation ski anyway, as there are always probs that get worked out in round two...so you can disregard my opinion anyway:p
Was hoping you guys would come out with the Star Jones Pro Model.
Big, black and with lots of attitude. Sassy!
Guess I'll have to wait for next year.
Not sure what the goals are here boys. Are we supposed tro nitpick at DM's work, offering completely new designs, only vote for an explicit set of options or kowtow to the nattering nabobs of negativity?
Can you make the goals clear? Then when we get off track by offering a Quetzal feather, arabic glyphs and Guatemalan ikat design, you can smack us with the goals.

(edit) don't make me add the winky.
FWIW, I like the sanskritesque and binary motif.
I think DM's first round makes a much more striking visual impact. I'll echo the sentiments toward the Blue Bomber -- I really dig that topsheet. (And I like the light blue, thank you very much.) I find it a bit odd that Jared apparently wasn't consulted in this second round? What happened there?
Otherwise, carry on.
While blue is beautiful... I luv the brown. What happened to the graphic with a young Splat riding a BMX bike? Went I'm tossing a tip-drag 3 I want to see the PK Ripper styling out a table-top over a flaming cherry pit.
I repeat, I luv the brown.
You're making this guy wearing a Kuwahara factory team hoodie go all dewy eyed with nostalgia.Quote:

fackin hilarious as usual Roo
Well said and just damn funny.Quote:
bad_roo I'd be a little worried about 'bollock hangup' when exiting a turn with that ski. Everything else is just peachy though.
Took me about 15 seconds for the eyes to dial right into the Grey FKNA. Had to relax my eyes like staring at one of those 3d images hidden on a poster of a ton of stuff.Quote:

But right at first, I saw nothing but pattern. It was kinda weird and cool how it CAME to me, but you really do need to know what you are looking for, at least with my semi-decent vision.
Took me a second to get the FKNA myself. I like that it's not jumping right out. How about a little NSFW on the tails or bases?
:D
edit: To clarify - not images, just the letters. NSFW.
Same as some of the others here. I like one and five. Voted Five
Is it too late to get the two humps?
