No glue needed. Anyone up there with trekkers will have duck tape on hand.
So....what is the census?? Skin or hike? I've never been there before and would like to know the best way to try it.

Personal preference I guess, but skin all the way for me. Less people on the Sherbie as it is ski only, no hinking allowed, I hate boot packing, and I like the going uphill on skis thing. Just the weight of the skis not on your back is enough of an incentive for moi.
Horray for the triple post.
If I go I'll prolly skin too but also prolly carry a second set of skis with alpine binders since I hate my freerides and the skis they are on.....
IMO, at that point your better almost better off hiking. Skiing down the sherb with a 2nd pair of skis on your back will likely suck more than hauling your gear up on foot. The whole point of skinning (a trail as well traveled and packed as tuckerman ravine tr.) is to get the weight off your back and on the trail. I've skinned both the sherb and tuckerman, and Ive hiked tuckerman numerous times. Its really not that bad or long of a hike, thousands of weekend warriors do it every year.
Edit: If you need any more encouragement on the hiking vs skin argument... My friend hiked while we skinned last spring, we took the tuckerman tr so as to stay together and he had no trouble keeping up. We kept it at a medium pace and there was no noticeable difference in the time it took to get to HoJos. Also if you are going with anyone one trekkers, you will likley outpace them on foot, and get to the bowl with fewer blisters. Not to mention that cutler opens up so early these years you cant usually skin all the way to the bowl in april, so everyone will likely kick steps at some point.
eyah I hear you on the ski out.... maybe I'll just mount my freerides on my BROs. If things go well with a project I'm working on that just might happen.
I didnt know you could skin to the ravine. I might borrow soul_skier's wreckkers to throw on my mantras. I dont want to put those chunks of lead on my back ever again
I'm in with Devo... and H, I may have a line on a 222 Yamaha Factory Test for the shotski. BTW, is that two williams and three jager?
If there was someone who was looking for a decent ski, I may have another in the q that could be a lender. Volkl Karma 174 03/04
At the risk of being told to reread the whole thread... I'm wondering if this mini is for day tripping or overnighting in shelters?
Not sure that's been nailed down... nobody's said anything about if or where to camp or overnight... I have space, floor if not beds as those are going fast.
I'm in Bartlett Village, about 20 min. from Pinkham Notch.
Personally, I had a plan to party Saturday night... :)
I'll be staying in Bartlett as well. I'm just a big fan of going up the afternoon before to sleep with a pint of Jack and some bread and cheese to wake early for summit... then party
I would posit, go up friday afternoon (11th)
Ski Sat.
party sat. night
you know, as soon as I read that, the masochist in me thought, "holy shit that would be incredible!!!!!"
i immediately thought about how I would build a rig to mount a keg on my back. what a workout. what a story. it would be complete and total misery for several hours, but it would be something that i would be proud of for literally the rest of my life. plus, i'd be a hero at tux.
then, i wondered, "how much does a keg weigh, anyway?"
a google search turned up: 155-lbs - double what i thought.
fuck that.
(:

i think everyone should bring up their own mini keg
but yeah, youd pretty much be my hero if you could drag a barrel up there.
hell, youd be a national hero
