This Fall has been so damn hot so far. I'm over it. This last weekend's storm gave me some hope that winter had come, but that hope is dying pretty quickly.

Fluff for the soul.
I almost bought 10 acres out next to the bridge this summer. Balked and it was gone. 30k ish. Wanted to stand on it before pulling trigger and couldn't get down there. I'll probably end up w something someday.
I’m looking to plan a trip to Taos to visit some friends there and also do a little skiing as I visit once but it was almost two decades ago. I was considering early March, but I’m not sure what the best time to go is. I’ve got a trip planned in late February so my time ranges are the beginning of February or the beginning of March. I’ve heard that it can be really busy during some spring break weeks - does anyone know exactly what weeks those are? Is see that the university of NM break in 3/17-3/22 but I’m not sure if there are other super busy weeks. We will be traveling with a three year old who might be ready for a short ski lesson - does anyone have any recommendations on that?
I'm working on the hill and should be able to hook you up. Ski week is in March look at the blackout dates.
Hollar when you get closer
JFC, what a coupla hacks in that viddy. Hella sweet line for an expert tho.
That dense snow shoulda been a fall line charge. Like Pfuffenmeister did it...
^^ Lol, coming from Seattle the busiest I've ever seen Taos pales in comparison to a normal weekend in your area.
Edit: was slow reply to Drommond.
Late February and early March are the best times to visit TSV snow-wise. 3/8/25 to 3/13/25 are the black out dates on my pass, so that’s Texas spring break time. Also Presidents Day weekend.
If you’re interested in a private lesson for the kid, see if you can get Stephanie.
Texas spring break doesn't have much impact on the expert zones at Taos. Busy in the morning getting out of the base area, parking lot is busy, shrug. Very few Texans can lap the expert zones. Maybe 1 and done. The exceptions to the Texas rule are good peeps you want to ski with anyway.
Getting out of the base area quickly isn't really important like at JH for instance. Anyway, am lineup was still not bad at all.
It would impact ski lessons for your little.
Until this year we had the same spring break as Texas for a few years and did Taos a few times and it was fine, except for missing turns with MS. Actually, it was spectacular.
Whatever you do, don't go to Wolf Creek for Texas spring break. That is a mistake I will never make again.

Absolute best ski day of my life was at Taos Feb 13 2009.
Feb 11 - snowed 18”. Storm was so bad only chair 7 opened. Which was OK as I was still acclimating to the elevation. Thank Jesus for oxygen bars.
Feb 12 - snowed about a foot overnight. West Basin opened under broken clouds. Pure bliss. Pow was orgasmic (making my wee wee tingle) to tits deep.
Feb 13 - another foot dropped overnight. Sunny day. Kachina opened. Pornographic (face shot) pow for four hours.
Ran out of energy around 1pm. This was before the Kachina chair. Picked up a dreadlocked hitcher with Reverends on way back to town. He smoked me up with some killer weed. After leaving his house, got lost getting back to Taos Inn. Yeah I was fuckin baked.
Stopped to ask two kids for directions. They were going there anyway so I gave them a ride. They also smoked me up.
Arrived at Taos Inn about 3. Ms TBS (a non-skier) was just walking out of Doc Martens, about 2/3 drunk. She went in for lunch and some guy started buying her drinks. So she stayed and flirted with him, because free drinks.
She drug me back to our room and raped me. I offered minimal resistance.
Then we went to dinner and came back for an encore.
The End
Thanks for all of the tips! I didn’t even think to check the blackout dates. Facepalming now…
Skied Taos for a week in early march 1982/83. Snowed a good bit while I was there. 3rd day buddy and I were enjoying a fatty and the sun at about 4:20 (go figure). We could hear patrol above us calling out sweep when a posse of about 15 lift ops went by hooting and hollering on some kind of snow bikes. Looked fun.
When we got back to Indian-no-place we began making plans to move. In October of that year we moved to Utah.
What will you be doing on the hill?
I'll be ordering and production for cafe on hill. Building a war chest of soup and a sandwich for them to take and finish up there. Make my own schedule to a degree. Should be just what I want.
I’d like to build my own soup and sandwich war chest for a regular weekend of skiingQuote:
