Oh. Haha. We've both had some bad, self-inflicted car luck for sure. At least with my C30, I'm happy with the results and enjoy the heck out of the car so still worth it for a rare car, even if I WAY overpaid for it. Made up for it with my crazy cheap S60 which thankfully turned out amazing.Quote:

Heated windshield cracked itself while in use and then a replacement couldn't be found for almost a year.
Infotainment gremlins that I'm still aren't sure that are worked out.
Incredibly small interior for a very large exterior.
Rock broke the protective shield on the driver's side headlight which then let water in which then shorted out the entire damned car every time it ran without warning. It cost $4,500 to replace the headlight assembly too. When he found out the cost the JLR dealer told him to make an insurance claim for it. Ok, higher rates in exchange for not having to pay for an absurdly priced headlight?

To put this in perspective, I once owned a '78 Ford Fairmont with a cracked block (happened at about 40,000 miles) and it was still better than those 2 Grand Caravans.Quote:

My 16yo has an ‘08 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, manual. 145k. Not my first choice of a car for him, but it was a gift from family. He’s pretty cautious as a driver but it’s still too fast for a 16yo. My DD is a ‘13 allroad with 155k. I have the itch to upgrade, but have her in a good spot at the moment I think. With no other considerations, I’d trade it in and buy new next spring/summer. Probably an A6 allroad.
Thinking of selling the eclipse, picking up a gx470 or similar. Something that’s bulletproof but still road trippable. He can drive it until he gets something else and then I can petition the GOTOS thread for local and internet fame.
Also thinking about swapping cars with him, selling the eclipse, and putting that toward my new whip sooner than later.
Or I just push…. Keep the eclipse on the road through the winter, and probably swap him the allroad then. If I do that I’m in for a set of snow tires for the eclipse.
