Yes, but you already had a good idea of how much time/heat to apply. I've done it in an emergency (hotel in Austria) to a Maestrale RS with six bandaids over the guy's fifth met and a hair dryer set on hot . . .

^^^ Thats awesome.
DELETED - ankle rivets and fixes are addressed at Page 47-48 of this thread. Sorry.
I feel like I missed a few posts here. Great heating tips from Greg. The only thing I’d add is that I like to cool the surface a tiny bit if I’m using the punch to reduce marking and denting and making the shell look shitty. Just a quick wipe with snow.
I’ve never measured the temp of a boot in my life. Always heat based on feel.
Wilcox, thanks for the buckle beta
Shout out to Madalyn at Tecnica for sending me not one but two sets of cuff pivot/rivets for my ZGTP boots. She was unsure what year mine were and doubled down on the customer service.
Bouya!
Will replacing the cuff pivot only fix issues with the pivot or can a new pivot compensate for the hole in the upper being too large?
I have a million vert on this pair. Definitely some ovalization in the upper but not massive.

They don't lock forward, but I'm not sure if it really makes much of a difference. On mine at least it seems like the the shell wants to open up on its own and that just pulls the buckle almost all the way forward on its own anyways. The buckle fits nicely in the touring catch of the Hawx touring catch. Snug enough to stay put but very easy to take out of it. However, for the first time ever I actually saw a pair of the blue Zero Gs in a shop the other day and that pair actually had touring catches on the buckles. Weird that mine came without them. But I think the Hawx ones might extend out a bit farther, giving creating a bit more slack in the system, and therefore better touring range of motion. These buckles are slightly heaving than the ones than come on the boots FYI, but its minimal.
Was just passed along this information from someone who got it from Tecnica re the ZeroG cuff pivots who was looking for solutions to heel slop
This is what I got back from Tecnica: "Thanks for reaching out. The current 23-24 Zero G Tour line has had not changes to the medial cuff rivet points however we have addressed this and next year's Zero G Tour line will have a hinge rivet similar to what you see on the Peak."
I remember a forward lean mod piece someone had buried in this thread. That replaced the bracket on the back of the boot. Was it the Raide one or another? If another please point me too it.
Any rumors on a replacement model?
Looking for replacement rivets. Are these for the Zero G or Zero G Peak? Drop down menu says Zero G, generic part description says Zero G Peak.

Are any of these out in the wild and has anyone fondled these?

Anybody been in the new zero g pro tours?
Anyone softened these things up? I saw a post somewhere about replacing the topmost buckle with a booster. Any other ideas besides getting scouts or not buckling as tight? These things are harsh as fuck in uneven snow. The bucking bronco routine has gotta go.

I'm new to the ZGTP family, but the advertised specs for the current gen were for a 26 maybe, because a 27.5 with stock liners weighed at 1416 grams. I'm not a touring boot expert, but I've tried and owned several pairs and imo mass has a pretty direct correlation to performance. If it is that light, I can't imagine it skiing as well as the current boot. Also, the shape of the last is changing for a more "anatomical fit."
One of the great things about the current zero g is the crazy number of people it fits. Hope they didn't fuck that up.
Anyone checked/been out on the Nordica Unlimited LT? Seems like with a couple of obvious refinements for weight (liner, buckles, sole), it'd be very competitive in terms of weight with the ZGTP. Stated weight is 1480g (shrug); I imagine with those refinements, could easily drop 100g. Curious how it performs in the usual light beef touring boot criteria.
Noticed Technica is providing a bit more information about the updates to the 2025 model on the gram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2ctva2s...Zub2kyM2xvcncy
" We’ve taken this beloved boot and given it every upgrade we can find while removing 100 grams of weight per boot. New buckles, hike-ski mechanism, hinge points, liner, cuff, instep and toe box make it the best it’s ever been. Keep an eye out for local pros and ambassadors testing prototypes all winter long, and find your pair when it’s time to prepare for the 2024-5 season. "
'New toe box' maybe is the fit change they refer to? I'm all for a spacious toe box. That's not where the performance comes from imo
Per blister: All the Zero G Tour boots feature a tweaked instep design; it’s now reportedly higher and features more of Tecnica’s softer “Quick-Instep” material. The goal there is to make them easier to get in / out of, and more comfortable (particularly for people with higher insteps).
And: The updated Zero G Tour boots also feature a new last shape. Specifically, Tecnica says the new shape “addresses fit issues from the previous iteration, including the sixth toe and arch support zones, improving both while maintaining the ability to make additional customizations with C.A.S.”

Fuck all of you who complain about them being hard to get on. Learn to put on a boot
I have pretty a aggro instep, but I can shimmy my way in to my race-fit alpine boots with zipfits pretty easily.
A size larger ZGTP had me nearly pop an o-ring trying to step in on a cold morning in the parking lot.
It's been a few decades, so I can't recall for certain, but, I believe I temporarily fixed some ovalization of the cuff at the rivet by filling the gap with ptex using a ptex gun. Pretty sure it was on a pair of Dynafit All Terrains.
In another boot (again beyond memory of specifics) I think I unscrewed the cuff rivet and shoved some ziptie plastic into the ovalization of the hole in the scaffo...mighta been on a pair of mango era Scarpa Maestrales.
Both options offered a de facto cuff alignment system...worked good for my bow leggedness, iirc.
@ gregL I got a brand new pair of orange tour pro.
Do I need to change the fwdlean?
I tried to open one screw and brutally failed?
Any advice?
