Better question what is the back up venue to the back up venue?
Hopefully for a comp of this magnitude there's a backup plan that involves moving to a more suitable spot, even if its a different resort or even a different country. The snow must be good somewhere in Yurp right now.
Any of you Euros have any beta on where is getting good snow right now?
damn.
Ignorant North American question. Where in Turkey has an appropriate venue?
Mount Ararat- 16,500'
Bonus is that one of it's sub peaks borders Iran.
Good news indeed. Aymar in the start gate brings me to the edge of my seat, especially in a season chockfull of repetition.

If they were ever going to pivot back to AK this would be a good season to do it.
Comp is confirmed for this Saturday. Didn't say where.
Ak- Fo sure..
If it was ever the time for the big venue in golden, now would be good, stability, coverage, weather and pow is all aligned...but I guess they only want people to think golden is a micro feature, better for me I guess...
AK was the best venue of all time, IMO. Its just such different alien terrain, super duper steep, with massive cliffs, typically great snow, spines and features nonexistent elsewhere, and it didnt feel like i was watching squid game like i sometimes do on the Bec with all the exposed rock.
Start gates. No mistakes allowed ☠️

A lot of skiable terrain but man o man not a place to make a mistake or fall. Snow looks pretty wind scoured as well. If it’s truly a go I hope the field takes it easy to ski another day.
Wow. Hopefully the surface conditions will allow for strong skiing.
I might get the old school billygoat comp that I was asking for earlier in the year.
That looks pretty rowdy. Looks like some light mountaineering to get to the start gate!
Love watching the FWT but some of those crashes at the last event were a strong reminder that I don’t want to see anyone die. Yeesh.
The biggest 4* event of the season, Kirkwood, is cancelled but I'm confused and may be wrong on why it matters - this is the event all the current FWT competitors who didn't make the final season cut have a chance to re-qualify, right? I know it's cancelled because lack of snow, but I'm not clear on if it is the biggest 4* of the year. I think it is, anyone know fer sure?

That's what I'm talking about!
Kirkwood could easily have a comp. There's plenty of snow and they just got 9" three days ago. It looks miles better than the Bec now as far as coverage and there's potential for bigger storms before the end of the month. We do have record high temps in between now and then however. Calling it now though is just not trying.
Interesting. Rumor is they are scrambling to find a different resort to host it, I wonder if they will cancel the whole thing or just do it at KW anyways since it's a big pivot last minute. I was hoping someone with more info could chime in though. Cancelling such a big event seems like a big deal to me, there's got to be more to the story.
