On non wind days you are right....but when there is fresh and the wind is blowin and all of the usual places are on wind hold I will take Lookout and the backside any day. Lookout especially. If you are there early, you might not cross a track for 7 or 8 runs! Think of it as warm up pow laps for when the good shit opens the next day.Quote:

....It's not the wind you need to worry about. It's really called "money hold." The wind is just Cohee's clever scapegoat. ;)Quote:

Rose will be on windhold as will be much of Heavenly.
K'wood is a 100 minute drive and to be avalanced out of the parking lot or on windhold would drive me insane.
Squaw KT should run but their lack of elevation is killing them this year.
And I shouldn't wine like a bitch at all since I'm blessed to live close to these places. :
Dude...I'm kind of in the same boat. Gunning for KW, but will have to make a call in the morning based on road closures as I'm comin up from Folsom. (then again, it's 10 PM here with no sign of anything coming down yet...grrrrrr).Quote:

hmm...thinking about Sugar Bowl too....they're little higher than KT yes?
I also think H-wood is gonna be the $$ tomorrow. Just a matter of making that long ass drive....
homewood??? jeez

keep thinking that... most technical steeps we've skiied in years.....
PLEASE let this thread die! WSW downgraded to a Snow Advisory. Damn thing is splitting, way too warm outside with broken clouds overhead. How many more jinxes do I have to endure?
PLEASE let this thread die!!!
Well the anticipation was fun, anyway. It doesn't look like its gonna happen folks its 1:30am in SLT and the temp outside is a balmy 45deg. Cohee's 4:30 update said that the storm is now only expected to drop 6"-maaaaaaaaaybe a little more.
Yeah, well. Welcome to this winter. It sucks.
6 AM on the fence on whether to come up......at least the winds are trending down:

Anticipating a 2 foot blower storm and getting this bullshit is like picking up a hot asian chick at a bar, taking her back to your pad, then finding out she's a fucking Thai ladyboy when you remove his panties.
The question remains, SuPu: do you still go skiing? (so to speak)Quote:

ya'll quit your bitching: its dumping here in Truckee/TD this AM as of 7:30am. Its going to be a cold storm, the snow is super-light, just went out and did a quick pit test in the yard  high winds too, Alpine only got an 1" overnigt, but it just got going. Today is a day of chores and then football watching and drinking. (speaking of: i will be at blue coyotee at 5 for the broncos vs pats game if anyone wants to meet up for beers and wings)
Sunday is the day to ski 'ze fresh powder and then watch the Bears dominate with an apres beer.
Squaw today.
Wind dosen't look brutal.

:FIREdevil :FIREdevil :FIREdevil jesus fucking christ. will you assholes stop posting in this thread. its the middle of january. continued posting in this thread will contribute to temps rising 10-20 degrees to bring 10,000' snow levels and nuthin but breakable crust for the rest of the season.
please...............seriously.............no, really
and tomorrows gonna suck. the blower thats nuking outside right now is gonna stop any second and its gonna start raining. this snow sucks. now i have to clear my driveway and i might get some snow on me. the horror.
Nope, I think this thread stays on page 1 UNTIL we get a decent storm cycle resulting in the need for multiple Tahoe TR's that replace this beauty, OR we get to 1,000 posts whatever comes first. ;)
It is snowing in Verdi,
This usually means that good things are happening south of here
no. Got turned around by a Spur closure. :cussing:Quote:

Tomorrow should be the bomb.
Kirkwood was money today
I went and hooked up with Mr and Mrs Corky at the 'wood at about 8:30am and the winds were not that bad. It puked the whole time and it was about 4-6" on crust but overall a nice soft feel and snow wasn't too heavy at all.
Tomorrow I'll hit Rose and Wednesday Squaw. Rose will be great as lifts are close and it's still puking in Reno!
