I've been using MV Pro Tours. Overall happy but they're not perfect. They walk pretty well and the heel hold is better than the stock liners (older version, not the new one for this season) but still could be better. Definitely wouldn't want to ski them inbounds or anything like that but for a similar use case to yours they're working pretty well.

I am GFT curious but am not sure if I can justify the cost or weight penalty for these boots. Garas are pretty incredible in my Raptor 140s though...

MV Tour Wraps, but many don't like wrap liners.

I'm also GFT curious but haven't pulled the trigger since the cost is so high and I realistically do not need in-bounds type performance from my touring boot. I will probably get some size 28 Pro Tours since they are available and I need a liner sooner than later.

That's been my thinking too. Though my current Pro Tours are getting pretty tired (150+ days) so maybe I'll get a little drunk and make an impulse buy one of these days...

I've got 26 Pro Tours in 26.5 shells FWIW.

These have worked well for me, much denser fiam than the heel and ankle area of the Tour Pro. take up more volume than the stock liner but not as much as the MV Tour Pro

I've been running the old stock liners for a touring liner and then a custom Sole Boot Lab liner for inbounds or lift assist/aggressive short tours... you can't buy it anywhere but at Sole in Cham though. If I was to describe it, it is like a HV version of a Plug Race with extra plastic reinforcements on the cuff and tongue, and a tour flex on the back of the cuff. It is quite stiff and makes the boot ski damp like an alpine boot, but you can tour in it if you want. It's not the lightest.

You know I was thinking about going with one of the Scrapa Intuitions if I could find them. I feel like the old Freedom SL liner (which is very similar to the pro flex but with a plastic bit on the tongue) would be perfect. If I could find that liner in a 28 I'd probably try it. Tip courtesy of tahoe sports hub was a 28 mv protour in a 27 shell zgtp. I had blown out my very old mv pro tours and they aggressively suggested a size up. The larger mv fills out the zgtp toe better, leaving more toe room and no slop in the shell/liner fit. Highly recommended.

I had mine pressed once, it helped for a bit but they're really bad again. I wonder if the rivets could be replaced. The rest of shells are fine and had extensive, and expensive, stretching to make them fit. Hat to throw down $900 for new ones. These guys make (or at least used to make) replacement rivet kit for some Dynafits that were known to have the same issue. I just emailed them, we'll see what he says.

I was wondering the same thing. No way to find out without taking them apart. But the fact that pressing the rivets fixes the problem (at least for a while) suggests that it's the rivet.

B & D said they didn't know about using them on Zero Gs and referred me to Skimo Co, just messaged them

Never had a touring boot where the rivet didn't get sloppy, even the "replaceable" cuff pivots of the Atomic Backland.
It hasn't bothered me performance-wise, although I have worried that they might fail in the field.

SkimoCo says they don't know if those cuff rivets will work, they haven't tried and since you'd have to drill the rivets out to find out it's kind of a big step to tske. Anyone have a totally trashed pair that's headed for the garbage that someone can dismantle and find out?

I can actually feel when a rivet is worn out.
Even a degree or so of slop will give you less edge hold on ice

I have both boots. They are about the same in length. The forefoot of the Cochise is higher volume (mostly around the tops of the toes), but I found the midfoot to be narrower (or at least it feels that way). Generally I'd say the Cochise is a little higher volume overall, but the liner has much better heel hold.

I ski the resort in a new Cochise 130 and tour in an older 120. I have punches at the bunion and sixth toe and run Intuition liners.

My pals are smoking me on the skin track--it's gotta be the boots.

Original boot vs current year:

Current shell is <10g heavier and the only difference I can see apart from color is the cam on the strap.
Current liner is 20-30g heavier and has the interesting reinforced stuff behind the ankle.

The slop in the ankle was really noticeable on hard snow yesterday. It pains me to do new boots just for the ankle pivot, but I can't see how this might be permanently fixable.

Figured I’d register and share my experiences as I’ve learnt so much from this thread.

For posterity: if your shells are a half-size, do size up for Pro Tour MVs. I sized down from a 26.5 shell, and there’s a tiny bit of slop in the shell that is noticeable when skiing (I can feel the liner move in the shell).

Has anyone had issues with breaking the boot boards (zeppas) in their ZGTPs?

Context - I've broken two left boot boards, both after a day of lift served skiing. They both broke in a very similar way between the heel and transition to the mid-foot of the boot board. I probably have 50 days in the boots with less than 5 lift served days so this feels like a bit of a pattern. No issues when touring.

You could tell me this is user error because it's happening after skiing in-bounds but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills since this has never happened in other boots and I don't charge as hard as people who get paid to ski.

Anyone else seen/done something similar? Is there a fix out there other than buying repacements?

Yes. That happened to me on one boot board shattering around the heel after about 3 seasons. I had to order new ones. It was like $25. Guess I was stomping the landings too hard.... :D

Tecnica sent me replacement boot boards for free after I emailed to ask if I could buy a pair. Both arrived broken at the narrowest spot. Bummer as my current ones have been sanded down so much that they're basically transparent in the toe area and are only holding together thanks to many layers of tape. I'll grab a pic later today for lulz, they're looking really pathetic. Each is broken in at least 4 spots and flopping around.

Pro tip: don't sand the toe area too much or you will lose enough eight to expose 2 plastic reinforcement if the shell that will dent your liners and create an unpleasant pressure point under your big toe

Broke at the heel for me after a season a old fuck skiing. Annoying

I used duct tape.

One could make molds of the boards and do contact layup with the materials of your choosing such as CF and epoxy.

Probably a bit much for most folks.

Technica also sent me a free pair of zeppas after I broke mine while modifying them. They are made of a lighter more fragile material than most and I think they send them out without argument as a result. I couldn't grind the right one thin enough without it breaking so now I'm using the heel block of a broken zeppa and a sheet of trimmed plastic that fits snuggly in front. works well

Great tip. Thanks. I've been mulling over sanding the toe area down. It sounds as if I should order a spare pair before doing so.

They are pretty fragile... cracked a new one just putting it in... that one i could glue back together though

White ones could break on insertion into the boot!

Yellow (newer) ones seem a little more pliable plastic.
