Almost [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]” on Ajax. Sometimes you just get lucky.
Kinda the deal around here unfortunately. Especially with this recent dry spell we got massive surface hoar crystals so whatever falls on top will be sitting on potato chips
Some lower angle trees on Huntsman or Justice but can quickly end up in avy terrain if you go too far. Willies is the friendliest option for sure
I'm sure Highlands was off the Hook!
But I prefer first chair of the year, on 1A. Followed by twelve laps of untracked on Norway.

Highlands opening delivers once again. Not as deep as last year but an untracked morning in DT with zero lift lines
dropping into highlands tomorrow with my 14 yo ripper. where is best place to find a good one day rental ski? Christy said they have KORE's. I am typically on M free 108 and he rides R10's. I thought we were going to being skiing hardpack and 90x rental ski would be zippy and fun. but it sounds like there is good snow out there and our typical mid fat freeride ski is best.... any info is helpful. especially related to a relatively quick rental turnaround.
we are leaving glenwood @7 am to get to a shop early.
Every shop has nice shit. I'd just use
the shop at Highlands for convenience and maybe to swap out a few different boards.
PM me your digits and I'll send you two 50% vouchers.
I'll be 1st chair at 1A again, if anyone wants to rip few?
Great chalky conditions on steep NE facing stuff still. Found some funk elsewhere though.
Still some great chalk to be found, but I'll take a storm any time now.
Good conditions for skinning in the resort and skiing with the kids
I finally got my ass out for a first real ski on Friday. Ajax was excellent for groomer ripping, as long as you have some edges.
Some Highlands laps and a Ozone/G6 on Saturday. G6 is full-on windbuff chalk down the tube. Super super fun.
Tiehack yesterday, nice and sunny and quiet.
I heard G6 was $$ but I was too tired to hike after skinning to MGR on Saturday morning.
The bottom 1/5 of the skin track in Highlands is.... sporty.
Some good chalk and the groomers are holding up nicely... but I'd take 2 feet anytime now.
Snowmass is only opening at 8:30, during Christmas this year. Coney Chair alleviates any lines, but funneling the jibbers thru Fanny Hill is scary. Get up and out of the village as early as possible.
High Alpine and Alpine Springs are skiing the best.
Haven't made it over that portion of Snowmass yet. We got last few chairs on Elk Camp yesterday (parked at two creeks). I was pleasantly surprised.
Skinned from my house to Sam's this morning, fresh groom was money. Hopefully we can get another foot or so in the next few days.
Ajax was not too bad yesterday once it started to snow pretty hard. Christmas Tree delivered.
I spotted RFK Jr cruising through the gondola line. That would be a strange single to add to your bucket

Highlands was really good yesterday afternoon. Will try to get the kids up again today for a few late laps, maybe on Snowmass.
Ajax was $$$ this morning and pretty quiet until ten thirty or so. I put in seven laps under Six to wake up the legs.

Jim at Bootech Highlands.
Jack at Four Mtn. Snowmass
Steve at shop above Stapleton Aspen
Pretty fun day at Highlands. I am stoked for more snow…we have such a great start and assuming January doesn’t ruin all of it….some fun lines will be hit this year.

Highlands was fun yesterday - we ran into funken and GR when I was with the kids. They opened B One yesterday and I got a awesome early lap in there. G Two also had excellent turns

Patrol was talking about some sharks in the Bs but that they were going to open it. Being in one of the first groups up we just went straight for the Gs.
I was at Highlands with the kids yesterday too, lift lines were surprisingly manageable especially compared to Buttermilk the previous two days. Went up for some lunch laps on Ajax today and 1A, Ruthie's, and Hero's were ski-on. Singles line at 3 was sub-2mins. Not bad for the "busiest week of the year" and conditions are great.
Same with Alpine Springs in Snowmass.
High Alpine, Sheer Bliss, Sam's and Campground if they ever open it, never have lines.
Safe travels!
I guess the roads were a total shit show last night.
I brought the boys out to ski a Nastar lap and watch the Ajax Cup a bit yesterday. Nastar was closed but the rest of the mountain was pretty damn quiet as Jaytae said. The boys were motivated and they ended up skiing the Ridge for the first time.
We just hit a quick and cold Tiehack lap before our flight. Off to Seattle for a little bit of family time before school starts back up.

Anyone up in the bowl today? Still cruddy or getting more packed in the gullies? My daughter wants to go for her first lap tomorrow.
It's already gusting to 16.
Personally, I hate hiking the bowl when it's windy.
Flat light and blowing hard.
I did an hour down at Campground and bailed.
Punted for another day. Good chance I’ll be up there tomorrow though.
Recommendations on where to buy boots/get fitted in Aspen? My nephew is out in February and plans to purchase. Probably touring boots, but TBD on that for sure.
Been out with a broken foot for a few weeks. Today was the first day that really stung not being out there. Hope people got some good turns
