living in utah was what got me started homebrewing in the first place, although i'm pretty sure that's the opposite of what they're trying to accomplish with those laws- i drink more and they don't get a cut. now that i live somewhere in which decent cold beer can be purchased readily, i haven't been brewing nearly as much.

Vermont is up there, I should know I grew up in the Burlington, VT area. Oregon has the most breweries per capita, they have something 40-50 + brewpub/ breweries for I think 2-3 million people vs. VT has 4-500,000 people w/ 10 breweries/brewpubs I can think of. California has a lot breweries too, and some damn good ones like Stone (that is the logo on my avatar), Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Anderson Valley, Anchor, etc.Quote:

I sent you a PM as well, also one place you should check out is The Bayou (I think it between 600-700 South on State St.) in downtown SLC, they have a beer list that will blow you away, and they have good food as well.

I don't drink tap beer in UT, because it has to be 4.0%, bottled beer can be whatever as long as it is from a UT licqour store. I would rather get loaded than bloated.Quote:

McNeills is really good, but it is hard to find in northern VT. I can't wait to go back home to VT in two weeks and drink LOTS of Magic Hat. How I love Fat Angel Pale Ale & Blind Faith IPA. their prices are a little above average but not out of reason, for being located downtown, I've seen places charge more than the bayou. They have an unreal selection of beer.
In Utah you have to know what to get, otherwise you'll be screwed. In liquor stores stay away from the big name beers i.e. Sam Adams, Bass, Pacifico, Newcastle, etc. Although there are some alright prices, you just have to look, like Full Sail, Seirra, Pyramid, Lev, Spaten, etc.
