Evolution happens. It means "changes over time". Lots of stuff changes over time, including the law of gravity's effect on body parts sagging. (Gravity is a law, not theory- F=ma) What gets peoples panties in a bunch is the one little observation made by Darwin that apes and humans appear to be similar-this is what people are referring to when they say, "I don't believe in evolution"-what they mean to say is their religious beliefs or mindset or little voices in their heads, says that apes did/ did not evolve into humans. Darwin had a difficult time publishing his observations because of his deep religious convictions-remember he was studying to become clergy before setting sail on the Beagle. He noticed similarities, he didn't say it was fact.
And this is the leading paradigm of biology. Plate tectonics, the leading paradigm of geology, had a tough time catching on, too.
Scientific laws are facts, as in gas laws, (PV=nRT), gravity, most stuff that can be written in a mathematical equation. Theories explain and predict phenomena-Laws and theories work together. For example, Gas Laws are based on Atomic Theory-which explains and predicts what atoms and molecules do.
Thanks for reading today's science lesson.
