I am going to get Loveland and the Five Mountain pass. This will be my first season in Colorado. I am flying out next week for 9 interviews. I hope I get a job! Will be moving Aug 28th. I am so pumped. Gonna show you boys how we ski bumps in the east! Then ask you the proper way to rip the Nickel:FIREdevil

In all seriousness, does Loveland have a shot (besides the bump fest at chair 1) that is more than 400 ft of sustained vert?

If you ski otr from top to the bottom is around 1500 ft.

I used to go by the rule; You gotta ride the same amount of chair time up vs. amount of turn time down. Then they invented Hi-speed chairs...

What, as measured by the track your skis took?
I think 1,000 vert is closer, unless they converted to the metric system.

hey, alright, thanks max. been a while, how's summer in the 'dirty south?' i'll be makin a quick trip back to dixie to pick up another vehicle that will be better suited for winter travel into the mountains and BC. do i have to be a student to get these passes?

It sure does. Huge sustained vert with super deep wind protected snow all over the place up there. On top of that there's no local scene whatsoever so your stashes are yours and yours alone, and since the resort has such a huge focus on real estate development all of the out of town skiers are rich dentists that stick to the groomers.

You really don't want to ski Loveland.

Buy the A-Basin pass.

Or better yet buy the Vail pass.

And besides there are no Cougars at Loveland..........

it was a joke. buttermilk is like a mountain that was so steep, it fell over. (note: i've taken only one run on buttermilk, and that was to get to the x-games, so maybe it's got some cliffs. but i doubt it.)

Sorry, but "the boys" will probably be skiing something a little more interesting. As for you, you obviously belong at Winter Park. That's where the real cool kids ski.

I'm sooooooo busy, I shouldn't even be posting, but somebody should check the vert from the top of marmot turds down to the highway. I think that'd be the longest line.

Well, from 13,010' on the ridge to the parking lot would be 2,190' vertical.

Sustained? Or 400' of reasonably steep, followed by flat wind scoured chocolate chip, repeat. Just asking.

I've only skied there 2x and was pretty unimpressed both times.
