He delivers a positive message in a world of negativity. [Consider some of the artists he's "competing" with for album sales.] He stays true and spits his beliefs with passion and conviction. Pretty rare these days, regardless of your personal beliefs. If you just don't like his music, that's cool too. For what he is and has done though, it's pretty remarkable. I also think his band has a pretty unique sound. Juvenile and a little unrefined at times, but overall IMO a pretty good foundation for a successful act. - The guy's only like 25 years old. Stubb's gets 2 thumbs up in my book. Youth gets one and a half, mostly because it's studio tracks... and live always > studio schtuff.
Whenever that garbage comes on it makes me want to ram my truck into a pole.
He's a suburban kid from Westchester who followed phish around for years. What a joke.
So much hate.
The depth of my hate for Matisyahu is, like, deep.Quote:

Matisyahu is all right, he is like reggae light. Sounds ok but lacks something. He certainly is doing his own thing and being positive, which is cool. At the end of the day anything that is different from the endless bullshit of top 40 radio is moving things in the right direction. No song could be worse than my humps.
His sister goes to Colby, so in the fall he hooked the school up with a free concert... it was in a really small venue and I had never heard his music before, but I think he definitely has a unique sound that's has tastes of regae but isn't completely regae... granted there are some songs that just don't do it for me, Time of your song, indestructible, and jerusalem are IMO the best songs off of youth...
give the guy a chance he's doing something with his image that is rarely done, and it's even more rare for it to be relatively successful which he has become
