Summit 2006 - time to git on it!

I would also go with the suggestion to stick a thread in the regular forum, I know this is supposed to be the summit forum, but I would suggest that that should apply mainly to the process of deciding where it should be and when, and then reporting on the results. Lets remind people it's on, and maybe let a bunch of people who are new and never look into here, know what it is all about.

In any case eldo and I will be there as we have already booked and paid, so there had better be a few people to tour us around as I haven't been to W/B for at least 15+ years.

I'll be there, arriving on the 3rd, leaving on the 10th. Staying in Creekside.

I appreciate the suggestions for me to do something. However, assuming that you've noticed, I've put a bunch of threads everywhere concerning the summit.

May I ask for some help in this regard?

Enthusiasm for this one is a little dissapointing. DG and I will be up there regardless as we were planning to get up there even if there was no summit. I don't know what the problem is with this one. Maybe people just have their own thing going on this year or maybe people have last years crap season in the back of their minds. I don't know. I'm just hoping for a continuation of what has always been a great time. I'll have fun up there without a summit, but I'll have a lot more fun if there is one.

I'm still going too. I may only make one weekend and a few days but I'm there.

I agree with you BZ. I'm sitting here going why do I want to book a reservation at W/B when people will be scattered all over during that time. It's the reason every EC Summit till last year was generally a failure and never more than few friends skiing. Last year was the exception when someone stepped up and organized things in a way that everyone was in the same place at the same time. It's nice that everyone wants to show people the goods of their local mountain but that is kind of defeating the purpose of why you are picking one place to meet.

I don't know, there might not be a massive turnout, but I think there will still be plenty of folks there to make it a good time. Even if we get the Van area mags and a good assortment of Washington mags, and just a few coming in from farther afield that's a decnet number right there.

Then just go to W/BC and ski with the folks who have posted that they will be there. I'm even going to try to marshall the troops up there for the weekend of 3/9-12.

if all the fence sitters worried about turnout booked a trip, the turnout would be amazing. instead of posting about how lame it might be, post that your locked and loaded. sack up and book your tickets!

Unless you were only intending to be there for a couple of days who cares if some people aren't arriving in W/B until the middle of the week because they are hitting PNW first?

Come on, take a week off and go skiing.....

BINGO-YO!! What he said. Like I've said before, Lego and I will be in W/B the 8th-12th. Who cares if we're in Seattle the first half of the week and weekend prior? Maybe everyone should do that! ;):biggrin: :cool:

I'll have a spare bed to offer in Vancouver if someone is landing late in the evening and not wanting to or able to drive up the W/B till the next morning.

I'm planning (with Mrs Mullet) to hit up Seattle area then W/B for both summits (a la Divegirl). Not sure exactly where I'll be when but intend to coincide with as many maggots as possible. Anyone got any space going in W/B accommodation for roughly the 8-12th of March?

Add me to the list for Whistler. I live in North Seattle, so may be able to offer a ride to w/b.... also might want to share accomodations. My business can be busy around that time, but will try to get away for some of the local stashes.

Been slackin for years, not skiing as much as the old days, (15 days already this year tho!) so have yet to make a summit, can't miss this one.....and, of late, the rust is getting polished off the cameras as well as the edges, so watch out for the grey haired maniac. Only if its a deep, cold, powder photo day will I bring out the red fart bag, so y'all shouldn't have to bring barf bags....

I'm contemplating the Seattle thing too. Just got the shovel/probe/beacon recently, taking the class at Mt Washington in Feb with Treerat. I don't want to be left behind again like JH last year ;)

Powday and Schuss may be in, don't know what their story is right now.

Any deals on lift tix? Or should I just do the package deal thing with WB?

CU - if you fly into Seattle on the morning of Wednesday, the 8th, we can probably pick you and your stuff up and drive you to W/B. It will be tight, but we may be able to fit one more person in. The reason I say this is because flights may be cheaper from NY to Seattle than to Vancouver.

Right now, we're planning on renting a car on Wednesday morning the 8th through the evening of the 13th.

Regarding rides around the Seattle area, Lego and I would be appreciative of rides-for-wine/beers from the 3rd through the 7th if possible. We're looking to hit Baker and Crystal for sure. I'd like to hit Stephens Pass one of the days as well.

Edit - for those of us doing the Seattle thing from the 3rd through the 7th and W/B the 8th through the 12th, perhaps someone should set up an itinerary for the ski resorts/backcountry we'll ski from March 3-7? I don't know the ski resorts at all, so if anyone has any ideas, let it be known! :) I'd be more than happy to set up an "official itinerary" through a separate thread, but I don't know if anyone would follow it.....

About the only option is Perimeter for their bus service from Vancouver W/B. It's probably less expensive to rent a car if you are three or more.

There's also Star Limousine if you like that stretch limo type of thing.
