Summit 2006 - time to git on it!

....so who's planning this thing? Did we settle on Early March? Whistler with a side of Baker?

I'll get on the Baker side trip part of it. Dates? Places? Stay in Bellingham or Glacier? Easier to put together in Bellingham, but it'd be fun to rock out Glacier for a weekend.

Where is the thread that officially decided Whister/Blackcomb was going to be the next summit? I'm just curious, becasue I can not locate it.

Is there such a thing as "official"?

However, if anyone wants to re-visit the topic, I'll put a plug in Europe. If not, I'll be at the bar.

If ((the summit occurs @ W/BC) AND (people want to detour to Crystal))
Then I have arranged for a group deal for lodging and food at the Alpine Inn.

It requires 25 people, which might be a long shot. I will be there the nights of 3/6-3/8 in any case.

PM for details, include your email contact.

other than the usual grumblings from summit county, it sounds like PNW is a go for the 06 summit. Im stoked to go check out Alpental/Crystal/Baker. I'll throw my hat in the ring to help plan on the w/b side. peeps with ideas on the w/b leg should give me a holla.

What grumblings? Are you referring to me?

Though I can't speak for P11, I suspect he's not reefering to you.

In any case, if the consortium of weirdos wants to go elsewhere, so be it.

The Tyranny of the Majority That Participate seems to indicate that W/BC is the Object Of Desire this year.

I would assume it is W/BC this year only because it came as a close second place to the Jackson Hole summit last year.

So, when is this going to take place? Inquiring minds want to know. Buster, if it's indeed the first week in March, let's set firm dates on this summit.

Shall I assume 3/3 thru 3/11? If so, then Lego and I are in, as well as Ubersheist (I assume) and another friend of ours.

We'll be flying into Seattle, and renting a car. I'd assume we'll spend a couple nights in the Seattle area (either at the beginning of our trip, or the end, whichever co-incides with the official maggot party), where we'd love to do some PNW touring with both AT gear and beer mugs. Proper ski resorts are great, too, considering our mutual friend is a snowboarder.

Though I'm most excited about Whistler! Our group, I'm sure, is open to sharing a cheap-ish condo with whoards (sp?) of fellow maggots.

    Whew! So many assumptions.......

Diva-Girl: see the link Grrr posted. 160 of the loonies voted and W/BC won. Parliamentary procedure and all that.

As for the dates, that's in here too: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=30045 .

So the 10 days starting 3/3 should be it. I'll help coordinate the Seattle portion. I'll bet the honorable Rodentia(100-1) will chip in too.

I can get a group rate up at the Alpine Inn @Crystal, but there has to be 25, which is a lot of cats to herd. I'm already committed for the 6-8 there.

I can help pow111 with the W/B planning.

As I do a lot of skiing I'm more then happy to guide intermediate groups too - not a big deal to do so.

If you want I'll look into group discounts for lodging and for food. Depending on how many people come you guys should all think about even renting a big house within staggering distance of the village. I'm going to suggest either White Gold or Whistler Cay Heights for this. I know a few houses where you can get 12 people in easily with hot tub and kitchen. Food is pricey in Whistler so that's one option for those who want to save a bit of money.

I also know some Intrawest people who might be agreeable to a group ticket rate if you get enough people.

Once you get a headcount I can look into all of this.

If there's enough people interested I can also try to rope in some bodies for backcountry touring. I'm a little reluctant to do that because its tough to manage big groups in the bc but there's lots of terrain to spread out and mellow options

Thumbs up well then it seems like it's all official

    FKNA!
maggots are always welcome for crash space in Seattle here for sure, summit or no summit.
We can also provide airport transport, dawn patrol tours, in bounds sugggestions etc...

ps:nobody tell Z-BO and we'll all poach Stevens one day too

We can comfortably sleep 4, or maggotly sleep up to 10. We are dog friendly and (always) willing to take in fellow ski-hards. I am down with trying to do the Crystal group thing for the dates mentioned and whatever craziness might ensue from there. We are even looking at RV rental for this whole deal so anyone who's interested in that let me know.

Bring your trash bags, clear goggles, pink helmets, fat ski's and thumb squigie's (anti jynx)

The big ? is who's going to step up and organize it?

PS:Alpental bc tours could be an entirely different side summit for those interested... just a thought

tibaher's place is conveniently located off I-5, and so is mine . I've got room for maggots who are en route to Whistler or will be sampling the goods in Washington. Bed space for a few and lots more floor space.

Are there any special rules for JONGs who want to attend? Do I have to wear a neon pink fartbag as part of my initiatiation ritual, for example?

(not, I hasten to add, that I own one. really.)

But of course. You have plenty of time to shop for one. The rule is usually waived only if you promise to bring your sister and she promises to dance on the table.

Actual dates! Perfect timing as I have to sign up for vacation dates next Thursday for 2006.

I have a station wagon and can do some maggot transport.
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!

I'll check and HOPE that I have the week off. If so, I'll be there. I've got some friends in Tacoma (old roomate and others) that will be happy to put up some maggots. Fack. I'm stoked.

As long as airfare doesnt shoot up dramatically, I'll be flying into Seattle and going from there. More than willing to split gas on the way up.

I'd be really interested into doing some BC in Garibaldi Nat Park, possibly a multiday trip up Mount Wedge? Camp at the hut at the base of the glacier the first day, summit the next, and come down the third day. Anything to save money on lift tickets for me...

Condo in W/B is booked! And surprisingly, we have enough people! Is this turning into a PNW summit instead of a Whistler summit?

I'm down for a tour/overnighter. The first weekend would be best, as we'll be in the Seattle area for about 5 days prior to BC.

the squirrel and flow house will also be up for the offering.

no more actual beds (some air beds and a big couch and some decent floor space are there for the taking). we are also right off of I-5 pretty damn close to tibaher's place. crystal and alpental are totally within striking distance from our house and whitler is just 3.5 hours north of us.

we also have the made for skis wax room right off the living room. air vent and everything.

PM squirrel or myself to reserve floor space etc.

this shall be a shit ton of fun. oh yes oh yes.

I don't understand why we just don't have it at one place. Is it me, or does this summit seamed too scattered? IMHO, we should just have it at Whistler. Why travel so far (for some) and only have a few maggots at a particular area. Probably going to get blasted, but it's kind of stupid to say it's going to be a Pacific Northwest Summit.
