I love summer. Love the riding, the wakeboarding, the hiking, running...
My ideal summer week -
trail run a couple of times
mt bike a couple of times after work
a big ride on Saturday followed by beers at Alice's restaurant
maybe a nice bbq on Sunday
a weekend or two a month in Tahoe getting my ass kicked trying to keep up with lph on Mr. Toads
wakeboarding on Fallen Leaf lake....
Love summer. Bring it!!!
[QUOTE=Samwich]Summer in the city isn't very exciting, especially when you can't legally drink. Fucking america.

Being able to legally drink or not is not a defining factor for excitement if you live in a city IMHO, although it does help.
For me, before MD got me into skiing, there was dirt bikes and DUNES. We rode 11 months of the year. The Meats kids were raised on dirt machines. So I love winter and summer.
Here are some retro pics. How do you like the bumble bee look?

Yeah, I wasn't saying throw more money at your bike - you could just end up with a super lightweight XC race bike that's even MORE uncomfortable and jarring to ride, and just lets you get up hills faster. It is just like skiing - you can do BC touring with some super lightweight skinny skis that make the ascent easy and the descent a bitch, or you can suck it up on the climb and enjoy the hell out of the ride back down. Or you can say screw it and ride the chairlift or shuttle. The RM9/Monster T ride made trails that bounced the hell out of me on an XC bike feel like a powder day. Seriously.
And GT - those pants are... I don't even know what to say. But sweet pics, even with the clothes!

Great ski boat kind of small wake for wakeboarding.
Top end right around 59-60 via gps

I LOVE summer. Last weekend I did a whirlwind trip down to Huntington Beach to attend a beach party for my friend who graduated from medical school. WHO-OOOO! Boogie boarding was the shit! Now I seriously want to try surfing. And this coming weekend, I'm gonna hit the beach again!!! :-)
But, I can't wait to ski again next weekend.....
I like gum.
Think it may be time to pull out the clubs again and start working on hitting the ball in this mystical place called a fairway. No more carts, time to walk the links.
Summer does indeed suck. Good thing it isn't summer yet. While I'll be skiing throughout the summer, I've got big plans for June.
Motorized recreation sucks. Dirt bikes and ATVs are the snowmobiles of the summer, and I loathe them. http://tetongravity.com/ubb/icons/icon13.gif
2nd that emotion: Bring back winter
:FIREdevil
It's too F*cking hot today! I hate the heat! It's 86 F in my house right now & I've got a fan going.
When you crash on a mtb,it is usually much harder than when on snow.
I must admit that I love using a brush to grind out all the debris in my wounds.
I'm praying for heat relief.80+ in Idaho Springs,90 in the Front Range in May,this is ridiculous!
you look at the photo below and all you can focus on is the patch of snow, picking out lines and imagining yourself skiing it.

summer is ok.
I don't have to worry about minor inconveniences such as bundling up my 15-month old to the point that he can't move.. it can take 15 minutes to get all the layers on him..
I don't have to worry about going out for a run or a bike ride and slipping on ice..
its easier to lose weight/maintain fitness in the summertime - frankly, it's a lot easier going out for said run/bikeride first thing in the morning when its bright and warm vs. cold and dark..
not that summer is perfect. i can't stand bugs, for example. ticks are a problem around here, and a constant source of concern for me...
I used to abhor summer with a violent passion. But if you just take advantage of what it has to offer, you won't mind it so much..
I'm still at 2 serious skiing injuries (3 if you count my torn ligament in my thumb) to one serious MTB injury, and I've pretty much gone as big on a bike as on skis. So I don't know... Yeah, you can get more scrapes (but you can mitigate that with armor), but I've had some pretty good bruises from skiing (falling on ice, trees, rocks, landing on the binding of a ski...) You can hurt yourself either way if you're really trying.Quote:

Distinct seasons is awesome? Don't you see? You spend 5 or 6 months skiing / boarding, then summer comes and you spend 5 or 6 months biking. Two separate sports, both amazing and just heaps of fun, and you never get tired of either. Equally thrilling and always something different to look forward to. Toss in the climbing of course, and you've got a platter of choices for entertainment and thrill.
Btw, I'm sitting in 95 degree weather, it's supposed to hit 110 today, and you are bitching about 80 degrees? ;) My God, people! :D
jesus, dana. did that thing come with a wife beater and cutoff jorts? ;)Quote:

It was 90 here yesterday, not 80, that was in Idaho Springs.
I will never ever get sick of skiing powder.I've been a bum for 15 years & my avarice for powder only grows stronger.
AZ? I will be there next weekend, visiting parents, free beer, golf and food.Quote:
