Heh, it might seem that way, but I do enjoy going to the track 4 or 5 times a year as I am a member of several car clubs in the midwest. Getting your kicks on a closed road course keeps me from seeking them on public roads. Remember, adrenaline inducing fun is tough to come by here in the heartland. So, it's not really a weenie size issue as it is a versatility thing. The STi like my M can do many things, though I agree that wing is a bit much and would be promptly removed. With a rack and my cargo box it'll plenty of gear and still allow me to get jiggy with it on the race track when the need for speed arises.

I'm not averse to a wagon as I loved my quattro avant back before sport wagons became the rage and people definatley thought I was loony for buying one. Regardless, the Legacy seems to be pulling me in and only a test drive will tell.

That is probably a function of marketing more than actual quality. For years the blue-haired Buick market has been inunduated with claims of Buick "quality." These people are less likely to find a problem that others would.

I was out with a friend of mine the other night. I've known Paul since we were kids. He's 33 years old and since he left school at 16 he's probably worked a grand total of 6 months. He has never had and will never have two beans to rub together, but he's still my friend and we get on fine about most things.

He does, however, get very hung up about wealthy people. We were standing at the bar and there was a fortysomething dude, well dressed with a young dolly bird on his arm. "The only reason she's with him is because he's got a Bentley parked outside" he hissed at me. The STI rides like it has cement shocks - fun for awhile but would be a chore on roadtrips on marginal roads. The Tuareg seems to be a rolling lemon and is really pretty small. I test drove the Subie and loved it, but was able to lease an Allroad for the same $. Get thee to the Subie shop. 40K for an 02? Bonne chance.

Don't know about drug dealing and Cabrini, but I can tell you there's a lot of adrenaline pumping through my system when I'm driving in a whiteout blizzard in LCC, or Provo Canyon on my way to Park City. And my Subaru Outback wagon handles great - gotta love that AWD and the way it hugs the corners. (I just love the feeling of pulling onto the shoulder and driving with no problems through 6 inches of fresh snow to easily pass the pickup or Civic or whatever that's stuck in the MIDDLE of the road.) The wagon sits a bit higher than the WRXsti, but it's still lower than a lot of other SUVs, gets better gas mileage, is long lasting, has plenty of power and can be relatively easily enhanced, and is perfect for skiing/boarding whether with roof racks or just dropping stuff in the back.
I'm a believer......just traded in my old Outback for a new one, after test driving vehicles of several other makes and models.

Don't forget you can remove the STI's wing... usually done to attract less attention from the po-po, but it also makes it easier to see out the back.
