Trackhead, I love the way you think. Count me in on this adventure and maybe we could hit the Glacier route on the Middle as well. Other stuff we can do in the park: Albright, 25-short, Maverick, 10,696, the possibilities are endless.

I've had many years of trudging around the pass and ob at the village and would be happy leading a small group of skiers/riders around for a tour.

Did some say that they wanted to drop Central?;)

Damn that's a plan, if I was going to the summit I would be very down for going to the lower saddle and taking pictures. What are the avy conditions generally like on the Grand that time of year, I would think that most of that skiing would happen more towards the spring time in that range. But I've never done any BC in WY so I defer to the experts. When are ski descents on the Grand generally attempted? Do most people ski from the upper saddle or do most people ski from the summit and just do the raps? Any way you slice it that is a huge undertaking reserved for the most elite of the ski mountaineers.

I always thought the night we took over Mazatlan in Nelson was pretty cool. Nothing like having to sort out a $900 restaurant bill between 35 or so people :D

BTW, my recollection is that we drank $250 in margaritas alone.

Count me the f' in! This is definitely gunna be sick if it's even close to last year's summit. I'll probably fly into SLC with a few east coast maggots. We want to keep the option open for a day or two there if the snow is good. Then drive up to the HostelX for the bunk rooms and rip the shit out of things until we drop. i think Spanky and Treerat are in with it so far, we just have to confirm dates before booking the hostel. How big is that place anyway? Thanks for setting this up Frozen!

I got my Hostel X confirmation in the mail the other day. Feb 5-13. So one way or the other I AM FREAKING GOING!!!! Just gotta get a flight now.


I'll be at JHMR every day intercepting and skiing with whoever is there on whatever day, however I would DEFINITELY like to see how a whole BC booter thing works. Going big and landing in soft snow sounds VEHEEEERY appealing.

Main premise of the Summit: ski till you can't (and I hope the can't doesn't happen). :D

i am officially retracting this statement as i have left the employ of that joke of a corporation... i my still be able to swing some discounted tickets though if i happen to still be in the area come summit time;)

actually for anyone thinking about a couple days at big sky it probably wouldnt be a bad idea to pick up a frequent skier card. They you a like $15 off on the ticket but half off hotel rooms.

Turn up after driving non stop from western BC...Ski the stuff we are alowed to, ski the stuff that is supposedly closed and try not to get deported/arested....hike to ski when they take lift passes away!

How about erecting some sort of massive ice luge for doing post-riding shots of watermelon schnapps, etc.? Say from the landing between the 1st/2nd floor of the Moose, past the bouncer, out the door and onto the patio. All Mags must hit it before entry.:D

My last trip to JH had me puking off that back porch at the Moose. I just remember Micah going, "Yea Bacon" as I projectiled

It must have been the altitude not the Jagger....

I'm liking the glacier route on the Middle as well. You can easily (relative of course) ascend the route and ski it. I've got a pic from my latest trip that I'll post here of a coliour off of Nez Pierce (sp?) that looks sick-o. My vote is for the middle.

Middle would be cool. And if the NW Couloir was looking tasty, we could take a chomp of that too. Classic 40-45 degrees with a short steeper section at the top.

I climbed the NW Couloir in 1995 and had good time, but every time I think of snowboarding/skiing down that thing, I get this creepy, not such a good idea, feeling.

Other possible routes could include, the south side of the South teton, the Apocalypse couloir on Prospectors MTN, or the Spooky face on Nez Perce.

With good conditions it's not so bad. Plus you get to climb a pitch of easy rock with crampons and cold rock with skis on your back. Now nothing beats that experience.

Strider, I think we need to hook up for some turns this November around Thanksgiving and again late December in SLC. I'm all about skiing off of peaks, I could really care less about the quality of the turns, as long as a summit is involved. Blurring the lines of alpinism and skiing is the continual goal.

maybe its been mentioned already; i'm too lazy to look - but i was thinking this morning it'd be cool if TGR shot some footy of us and used it in the closing credits section or maybe, just maybe if the pow footy is good enough in the film.

My money is on you being "discovered" during the summit and maybe even being the covershot for the next DVD. bwaahhhaaaaahaaa. They can use your famous huckshot from two years ago. ;)

Seriously, I think that's a cool idea.
