this is more like the transportation plan between noon and 12 :30 am for those three days. no one is allowed in the red circle with out cavity search. green dots represents bus route the shuttle will take. cavity search upon arrival to downtown crossing.

Well now that we did, its all bitch-bitch-bitch - the Mayor of Somerville threatening to close his streets to traffic - GROW UP - it's four fucking days and the terrorist threat is quite high - just plan accordingly and there is no problem. I haven't heard any bitching out of New York about the Republican Convention and any security inconveniences. I think they know a bit about the ramifications of terrorists down there. there is far less road cloasure in NYC. the trains will still be running through penn station during the convention.
if they were closing the FDR and west end highway, as well as the hollend tunnel and several bridges you might hear them bitching. but they are not. why? i dont know.
i'm happy to have boston as the host. i just think its stupid to have it at the fleet center. as vinz said there is a brand spanking new facility in southie designed specificly for event like the DNC, and is not convienently located next to every major commuting route in the city.

The reason they have these events in arenas instead of convention centers is twofold: The media and the media.
It's not a convention in the traditional sense - no booths, no product demonstrations - it's basically one biiiiig photo-op, or kinda like a concert. There's a big stage where the speeches are made, then on the floor and in the lower stands is where the delegates gather around their little state markers and cheer and wave those stupid little hats, then make announcements that surprise no one. Above and around this circus are the camera risers and liveshot positions which bring this highly important :rolleyes: step in the electoral process into your living rooms. (I apologise for my small part in this)
You need an arena for the sightlines. A convention center floor, no matter how big - is FLAT. That's why the RNC convention is in MSG, not the Javitz center.

that makes sense. do you know why they have to close N. staion and not P. staion in NYC? or will it die with whoever is incharge of such decisions at the SS?

b) closing of 10-15 miles of 93 during rush hour, as well as Rtes 1, 1A, the inbound Logan tunnel, and portions of Storrow Dr, Mem Dr, and McGrath highway
b) search of every single bag carried on to the T for nearly 2 weeks (the week prior to the convention, and the week during).
That said, we're Bostonians - its part of our cultural heritage to bitch and moan. Its all about the Red Sox, traffic, and parking. Most of the time I think its pointless, but in this case I think we've got a right to bitch and moan.
