I’m back on fb and just realized an old friend of mine has been posting about this for the last couple of years as she grew up closely with the victim:

according to what she said, the victim gets a call from the kids that their dad is scaring them. she instructs them to lock the bedroom door and stay in the closet. she calls the cops. she goes home to be with the kids. dad drags her into the bedroom and shoots her many times. cops arrive and arrest him.
it will be *somewhat* interesting to know what kind of record he had and whether he should have had access to firearms (in the eyes of the law, not reality).

Dude, there are 20k murders a year with guns. Thats sad its tragic its a big loss. There are 250k deaths from medical malpractice a year. 100k from fentanyl. 1000 people a year die on bicycles in the US. Maybe we need to stop fighting about gun control and address issues that are less contentious. the medical malpractice thing should be a bipartisan issue among the american people, but its something none of the politicians are willing to do. We'll only address these issues when we stop fighting about the things they use to divide and distract us and will NEVER get solved by fighting with each other over it. I mean, NONE of you even have the remotest version of a plan, none of you can even articulate anything about what it would really look like other than maybe one day scotus will legislate from the bench and outlaw everything and then....... who knows.
So, yea, thats why we can't attack all these things at once, is because we're being intentionally divided and the politicians lobbyists etc are making it impossible. We could address them all if we prioritized forming unity instead of division, but that would take putting our more divisive ideas on the back burner for the time being.
