Dude, it is TGR and the PR, the bar for embarrassing is sky high.

Of course no one here would cheer for some male teacher was getting down with their students be the student male or female. It is similar to how many feel 2 guys having sex is kinda disgusting while 2 chicks is intriguing, it is probably a guy thing. The trigger for this blow up was a woman with an Onlyfans account who AFAIK never had sex with anyone.

As for Drag story time. I don't get it myself but I do believe that parents should be informed prior to and be able to opt their precious treasures out and if that is not done I can see why so many are pissed.

Believe it or not, most of us are capable of compartmentalizing. We can see a post about a teacher having sex with a student and make jokes, while also not condoning pedophilia or rape or whatever. Many of us remember being horny teens fantasizing about a hot teacher (or an imaginary hot teacher) and can laugh about a news story, without actually condoning the behavior of the real people in the news story or condoning the behavior of predatory teachers, female or male. People can also watch porn without wondering whether the woman on screen was abused as a child, or only doing porn because she came from a broken home, or whatever. As always, the reality of the people in any news story is different from commenting on the strangers in a news story. It's fine if you choose not to exercise that ability to compartmentalize here, but to act like people are approving of teachers preying on students because of this thread is silly.

Well said. As someone who had classes with two very beautiful, fun, and smart female teachers in HS, I can safely say that in addition to my own fantasies, the majority of the straight male student body wanted to have sex with them. And who knows, some of the female students probably did too. More power to them.

I in no way condone teacher student sex. Anyone who thinks I do because because of the above is wrong. 16 yo me was disappointed. Adult me is very glad they didn't. It would not have gone well because I definitely wasn't mature enough to not tell everyone who would listen.

There was a local case of a female teacher having sex with a male classmate of thing #1 sophomore year. It wasn't good for either party.

In high school (mid-70s) I had a wonderful English teacher who was flamboyantly gay, VERY out for those days. Great guy, hilarious, smart, caring. Everyone wanted to be in his class. There was a small group of us, both male and female, who got pretty close to him and did stuff outside of school like going out to eat, park hangs, smoking cigs. A group of us even hung out at his apartment once.

In those days everyone hugged a lot, and platonic touch was pretty free and easy. He never once made anyone feel an inappropriate gaze, or delivered anything other than a platonic touch. And I'd know because the other kids that hung out with him were all close friends. I do have young childhood sexual abuse by a male church leader in my past, so the radar is pretty sharp.

It's a super fond memory to this day. He was a great dude. Of course nothing like that could ever happen today. And It's kinda sad that any kind of touch has become ruled by the lowest-common-demoniator factor (like so many other things in the modern world). Most people who have kids sit on their laps or hang out with their students are doing so in complete innocence and out of care. And unfortunately (and importantly) we have to protect the vulnerable from the few who are not.

TGR can be strange. I originally read TH’s comments and didn’t think much of it. And then come back a day later and see the fallout. People love to be offended.

People can also be aware of the fact that there are actual child (and adult) predators out there without being overly suspicious of that activity sans any actual evidence of it in the given situation beyond circumstantial.

I wasn't offended but put out of sorts by the fact that some people put together the notion that people in drag are child molesters and other people said to the effect that some people don't have the right to read other kids stories.

in a thread full of child molestation and sexual abuse, painting completely innocent people with the same brush seemed a bridge too far. now the posts have been edited and deleted so everything looks a bit different, but that was the sentiment.

i am glad everyone is getting along now and that maybe people have reconsidered whether the preconceived notions they had (or at least ill considered speech) was bigoted. another thing that strikes me is that even in a forum of pretty middle of the road, middle aged, ski bum wannabes how many people are touched by these issues personally whether having non-gender binary family members or alternative preferences close by. it does seem easier to come by now than 25 years ago and the reasons that may be vary wildly but there is no reason that an innocent group of people should have to live in shame, fear, or excluded.

Agreed. This is the Padded Room, but most people here are now aged/experienced adults who also fundamentally understand right/wrong and typical adult acceptable behavior. None of which is being displayed here, by myself, or anyone.

You've lost me here. Trusted adults (or bosses, mentors etc) using that position to chase sex in real life is wrong. The adults/bosses/mentors (all of them) are real creeps regardless of what sex/gender they are. Nobody here would say a cougar banging a 15 year old male student is any more OK than a 40 year old man banging a 15 year old female student. Those scenarios *are* changed in this very thread, there have been posts about men preying on female students, same sex teacher/student pairings, and varying ages. And people change their responses based on those differences. The ones that track most closely to our past reality as horndog teenage boys get the most jokes and positive responses, and as the age of the victim goes down, or the gender changes, get the more serious replies. And your complaints have been raised in some fashion since the very beginning of this thread (check page 1), it's not like people have been blind to what we're discussing. And look at post 53 and the subsequent discussion, the same people who made jokes about the "hot teacher" that was the original subject recognized that a 12 yo was not ok at all. In other words, we a) understand that we're just joking around about this topic and b) that the circumstances of the real people matter. Not every 16yo fucking a teacher is being raped or being taken advantage, but some are. We're all just joking in here, not truly discussing the power dynamics of the specific people in a specific news story that we don't know anything about.
