Hey Laps - how did you make it around this turn?

That corner had a drop of about 40’. I guess all the tree dodging we do in the east had me ready for the jerry slalom.

any thoughts on mounting a voile HD mountaineer 3 pin binding on a pair of black crow ova freebird or similar cambered bc ski for moderate tours/meadowskipping? I'm looking for a waxable touring ski and skis in this class are crazy cheap right now .....
growing up, I can remember old-timers touring with a 3 pin binding mounted on used alpine skis

I’ve got pins on a pair of 180 Explosivs, so go for it.

Season is still going strong in parts of the BC southern interior. Things really rallied in the latter part of the season. It kind of culminated with the recent BC Championships, which had a strong turnout and good conditions. Who would have thought that back in January?
We’ve had the rare combo this week of skiing midwinter conditions while it’s still light after work.
It’s been fun for us nordic nerds but looks like the weather’s going to start warming up in the next couple of days
The boot comment is just to save couple of $$. I'm not familiar with Rossi boots, but Salomon second tier is quite excellent, and S-lab has a different fit. And of course skis depend on many things, and I spoke out of my biased position. I ski on hard, old, cold snow for the most part, and am about 200#, so need to go to top of the line models to find stiff enough skis. Someone under 180#, and skiing on different snow probably has broader selection on skis.
Anyways, just got new S-lab skate skis, and S/Max boots this winter. Can comfortably ski for at least 3 hours where I started to have all sorts of fatique and soreness around 2 hours on my Equipe 9 gear.
Calling McCall ID home for the next while, been scoping the Nordic centers around town. Close, nice and look good. Cheap.
Went through Stanley today, also nice scenic Nordic track outside of town.
I generally ski w a 50bmg for biathlon training.
Saw this kid out double poling up a hill the other day, made me feel like a wuss for feeling tired after a two hour skate.

FKNA. Inspirational.
Nevermind soccer hooligans, Norway has skiing hooligans. XC skiing won't make you ghay, it will make you drunk and disorderly! https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...-fans-fighting
South Summit at Loup Loup still skiing really well for skate and classic - and its snowing here in Winthrop atm
Doing 2 hours of Nordic usually leads to me taking an afternoon nap, not getting drunk and fighting random people.

Yeah, I lied earlier. It’s really good there now.

Been a rough nordic season here in Whitefish.

The bad winter weather has meant that the lower elevation stuff is constantly in bad shape or...literally just grass/gravel.
The stuff up at the resort is holding snow (and grooming out OK some of the time, but I also crashed on a grooming irregularity on a descent the other day)...
...but honestly, it is just too hilly to be fun at my current fitness level. Like...I can do it, but I have the most fun skating when I can feel the speed I'm generating and that means more rolling or flat terrain. I'm just not interested in a long uphill slogs followed by extended descents (at that point I'd rather just skin the resort and "real" ski down) and I really don't have fun past about the 1 minute mark if I'm going up hills that are too steep for me to generate any glide.
Was really counting on those early season golf course and meadow laps to build up those skate muscles! Has also meant no skiing for my pregnant wife besides one day up in Canada as she's basically restricted herself to green trails with freshly laid classic track and soft snow.
WG got a recharge, not gonna make it out but happy to see it.
We also got a brief recharge here in VT, so glad I blew off Alpine today. Fast and stable, sugar snow is one of my favorite conditions.
I love Nordic skiing

^^ Quit post holing on the track!
Glad to see you guys still getting some. Forecast to hit near 20C by the weekend here, and last night we didn’t get back to freezing temps overnight.
Last Sunday was the final Jackrabbits session, track was so thin many spots weren’t clean enough for the group learning skate technique, but we made the best of it. Had a fire for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows after, usually the fire is down 3ft in the snow, this year it was on bare earth.
At least there’s some logging up near treeline up the local peak that opened the roads up (no big hauling, just cold-decking for after the melt. Roads are just too soft now) Will be happy to get a few laps in the subalpine meadows on corn over the next couple weeks of spring break with the young-un.
Rosie Brennan took a third in Norway yesterday....she still has that mojo.
