It's been done, but for a vehicle like the Vanagon, especially the heavy version with Westy stuff, IMO a better swap would be something with more displacement, like the Subaru SVX 3.3L engine. Or just put a 911 engine in. Pretty much anything is possible with enough $. Or just embrace the fact that it's a slow ride.Quote:

WRX torque curve all wrong for heavy Syncro Westy. Other options including modern diesel conversion sound sexy, but will destroy the very very expensive and somewhat fragile transaxle.
