The old holes look like a Look/Rossi toe - any reason you can't just remount with a different binding and re-use the holes?
Inserts will certainly work but it's way easier to just remount after drilling out the old holes.

^unfortunately its not that easy. Complete conflict for the Looks with his BSL. Mounting these here for Salomon is the only option within 3cm of the line.
inserts
and fill those nearby holes with machinable epoxy
any of you guys with 3D printer able to make an adapter for my BCA (not G3) saw to fit in my BD poles?
was thinking of something with a set screw kinda like Alpinord’s drill bit stop collars
yeah then snap the toothpick or match stick off in the hole once or twice and you’ve got some fill material in there if you need it
Maybe. Can you do a ‘mock up’ of what you are thinking by taping/strapping the saw to the poles? With some dimensions. If they are the same BD poles as mine, I can measure the poles.
Would the adapter have to be out of nylon for cold and durability or is PETG ok?
One of a zillion options w/3d printing is heat embedding inserts for making attachments.

What about a Voile strap approach?

saw handle is 14mm diameter and 50mm long where it would attach
lower section of pole is 12mm - probably would want that piece to be 50mm long as well
that’s the smallest I think you’d want it - overall length would give you more reach with the saw
edited to add photo without saw guard on

Definitely getting off on a tangent from the Binding mounting. [emoji6]
(FTR it’s a BCA saw not G3.) Have you thought about sanding down the 1mm radius to 12mm to fit the BD diameter?

duh…
yes I have actually thought about just sanding it
I started another thread for this: BCA Saw to Ski Pole Adapter
Small (~2mm) gap on the front of STH2 toe piece. Is this ok?
Attachment 448547
That seems like a lot, particularly for the front of a toe (snow is going to want to wedge under there). My STH2 mounts are all flush. If you can't screw it down more (keeping torque within reason) I'd pull the toe and check for volcanoes. File them down flat and re-screw.
I agree with teledad
Thirded. Would you be satisfied walking out of a shop with your mount done like that?
4th’ed. STH2 here as well and none of my toes look like that…I’d fix.

Oh fuck yes. Time to grab a stick of juicy fruit.

It should be flush with the topsheet. FWIW, the very common Bahco Pozi #3 with the hexagonal shaft is too thick to fit all the way into the hole in the STH2 toe, so you can't screw the front two screws in all the way. Try it with another P3 driver with a skinnier shaft.
5/32 drill bit and pneumatic tubing as drill bit bushing. Almost idiot proof. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...755f8c731a.jpg
Printing on a transparency film is so much better than fucking around with paper.
I mounted these Whitewalker 116 185s yesterday, skied em today - mighty fine skis. Mounted at factory rec = -4.25. I contemplated going back 2cm, but wanted to try them at rec.

Skis just like Sammy's riding makes you think they'd ski. Absolutely one of the best skis I've been on of this kind - very surfy, yet surprisingly able smash considering their low weight. They do want you to ski them in a particular way though - they want to plane up on top of the snow and surf, so a bit of speed and forward commitment make them shine, though one kinda steers them from the back half of the ski. I imagine these being absolutely great in fresh dry snow.
I would absolutely recommend if you get along with progressive mounts and like to slarve, surf and smash your way down the hill of fairly stiff skis. They are great.
Yeah, none of the PZ3 bits I had were long enough to reach. I ordered a 6" one from Tognar (shipped immediately btw, good shop) and was able to get it flat.
I dremeled the volcanoes and remounted flat, thanks
I met Jack, the old owner of Tognar yesterday. Super good guy. Back in the day, the Tognar catalog was a wealth of information. I still buy from them if SlideWright doesn’t have what I need, which is rare.
Mounting my own skis this morning. One rookie mistake, doing it the morning. No beer and delaying getting out to ski this morning.
