Was I living on the same planet that you were over the last year?
33 million cases and nearly 600,000 deaths in the U.S. alone is nothing?

Two weeks
You sound like a parakeet
No. Specifically talking about the whole "2 week" thing. They were all screaming how Florida was going to be the death of us all last summer when they eased up. In two weeks of course. Yet after those two weeks came and went, their numbers were no worse than the places that did not relax restrictions. Hmmmm.......
They said the same thing about Texas spring breakers. They said in two-weeks post spring break, we were all gunna die. Yet no spike. Yup. 2 weeks!!!
And there are places where stuff like this was said and then shit the fan 2 weeks later.
There also are places where restrictions weren’t put in place or weren’t strong enough and shit hit the fan - and then the public is like “WTF why didn’t the government listen to the experts!”
I get that if you say “2 weeks!” and that doesn’t happen (a disaster) that this erodes the public’s trust in that particular geographic area the next time it’s said - but that’s more a failure of critical thinking and media bias than anything you’re suggesting.
But how are we to know which areas will - in the future - not see the disaster and which ones will?
You all are spending WAY too much time worrying about the Unvaxed among you. The breakthrough infections / hospitalizations are exceedingly rare to the point that you are taking much bigger risks in your daily life. I'm back to normal. Went to a wedding last weekend. I've eaten inside, been to bars, can't wait to go sit in a cold theater on a hot day. This thing will continue to kill 40k+ UNVAXED every year. Fuck 'em.
Yes, but there are reporting lags and lags in when people get tested. I'd say two weeks is probably a decent benchmark. One week certainly isn't enough time.
And with almost half the country still unvaxxed, and that half largely behaving exactly like the vaxxed half--if not actually engaging in more risky behavior--it wouldn't surprise me at all to see new cases start climbing. There's still an awfully big potential host pool out there.
We have covered this a few times. There are people who cannot be vaccinated that would still like to not contract covid. I get that this sucks for them and they likely don’t want to contract other communicable diseases either - so their lives are always gonna be about balancing risk with contagious diseases.
It’s still spring. I can wait a few more weeks to let more people get vaccinated and still have a great summer. Booking trip to Europe in the fall. I don’t need to be back to 100% normal life today.
WV ups the Ante
